this is a great watch for a simple outdoors person. easy to use and set. the only draw back is the battery life which is only rated for 12 months. otherwise its perfect for having fun with outdoors activities.

 'Casio Men's Watch Pathfinder Module 2271 PAG40-3V' 2009-09-11
By Heynard L. Paz-Chow (North Miami Beach, FL USA)
Well, with great sorrow I had to say goodbye to my old Pulsar 344064 Multi-Chronometer, Stop-Watch, Timer and Alarm that I bought back in 1993. After more than 16 years and a faded LED screen, albeit it is still going, I got this Casio Watch Module No. 2271, Men's Pathfinder Triple Sensor Altimeter/Barometer/Digital Compass PAG40-3V. Now let me assure you that, if you are in serious training, rigorous exercising or you are an avid outdoorsman willing to invest time in understanding its capabilities, then the Casio Module 2271 PAG40-3V is for you! The Casio 2271 has big numbers that make it easy to see when you are running, swimming, hiking or in any other competition. After 16 years with my Pulsar, the Casio 2271 shows the advancement in technology. The digital compass is a welcomed technological improvement, whereas it permits immediate directional reading, allowing you easily to calculate your proposed destination. Of course, it is for estimate purposes, for one wishes to have a sturdier compass as a backup. Nevertheless, the Casio 2271 is generally accurate in directional reading. A second feature is the Barometer/Thermometer, which the little internal screen allows viewing an average of the past days and surprisingly is very accurate in determining the weather. A rise in the internal graph represents the improving conditions, while a decline in the graph shows the deterioration of it! Furthermore, the barometer pressure displayed is in 1hPa/mb units and only in this format! The thermometer is a nice addition. However, perhaps because the watch is so close to one's wrist the reading tends to be +/- 8 or 9 degrees Fº above ambient temperature (or +/- 2 or 3 degrees Cº). It is great when doing a long distance or marathon run and one can adjust it to either Fahrenheit Fº or Celsius Cº. Finally there is the Altimeter for those that set altitude goals when mountain running or climbing. The altitude measures and memory measurement are so convenient when trying to better climbing rates. The feature also allows you to either let the watch automatically perform the measure or to manually operate it! While in SCUBA, the watch supported my diving at 15 meters or around 50 ft. Although the manual claims it can withstand pressures of 100 meters or around 238 ft. Incidentally, I must confess that I have neither gone to such altitudes nor such depths to verify such claims. Now, in addition to all these features the watch has its standard stop-watch, alarm, and for night outdoorsmen an automatic light sensor or manual if you prefer it! There are some nuisances such as the date feature structured; year, month and day and cannot be formatted to the military mode; day, month and year or the U.S. mode. On the one hand, there are other watches such as the Casio Men's Digital Compass Twin Sensor Sport Watch SGW100-1V, which holds itself pretty well with a lot of similar features at a much lower price! The Casio SGW100-1V has two nice sensors, including the compass feature and temperature reading. In addition, it includes the basics of a sports watch such as the chronometer, timer, and alarm. It is also water resistant to moderate depths. It will be a good watch for those that are starting a serious regimen or experiencing the outdoors. On the other hand, if you are an enthusiastic active individual that wants to test the limits of both your life experience and have a watch to be your companion, then you should seriously think about the Casio Module No. 2271!

 'it keeps time well...' 2009-09-06
By Michael R. Bove (Kansas)
I STILL think casio g-shocks are the best watches. But my last two experiences have not really been impressive. This watch has a nice BIG dial and you can even read the numbers without having to use the light (an improvement from the mudman version). As a pilot I thought it would be neat to have the barometer and altimeter. WRONG, well I guess it is cool to have 'random numbers' generated, these functions are so far out of wack that it would be impossible to compare them to toys. Don't waste your money. I will use it until the battery dies (which will not be that long with ANY use - (read the small print)), and then look for a BASIC watch. I have learned my lesson.

'Excellent watch but sensors are not that accurate' 2009-09-02
By Vishal Gupta (Hell)
Pros:
1. The watch looks classy on hand but remember if you have thin wrist this watch will look like grandfathers clock on your hand(its huge).
2. Easy to calibrate. I had no difficulty understanding the manual.
3. Night visibility is excellent.
4. True waterproof. I went into Niagara falls wearing this watch

Cons:
sensors are not at all accurate. Temperature is never accurate even when watch is not in hand. Altimeter is absolutely crazy and barometer shows some stupid graphs and no relevant information. The compass is good though

conclusion: Nice watch but dont purchase it for sensors and also its not for small hands.
