Painting 'Socks' the Cat

Socks the Cat was created especially for the above video. My intention was to create a discussion video about whether producing art spontaneously (as opposed to planning and refining a composition before moving to canvas) resulted in the artist producing their 'best work'.

Since creating the video I've had some time to reflect on the points I raised and have realised that some of my own artworks, that I consider to be among my best, were actually produced in this spontaneous manner.

If you have an opinion on the thoughts I've put forward please feel free to put your ideas forward.
