Ways To Propagate Anthuriums Using Tissue Culture
But where do these hundreds of thousands of anthurium plants come from? They're made by a process of anthurium propagation referred to as tissue culture or vegetative cloning. Using this procedure, you'll be able to start with just one plant and create tens of thousands of plants in a very small period of time.

First, the cultivator chooses a perfect specimen. This specific specimen is going to be cloned many, many times, so plenty of time and energy is dedicated to picking the very finest specimen out there. As soon as this valuable plant is chosen, the cultivator will take it to a laboratory.
Inside the lab, a scientist verifies that the specimen is in good health and then snips off a piece of it. Next the scientist will sterilize the sample and set it into a beaker that contains an agar based medium. This flask also has specific plant hormones which cause the sample to develop a callus, which is an undifferentiated clump of plant cells.
The callus is split into many portions and next permitted to grow. This particular technique is repeated numerous times. As soon as sufficient material is produced, the calluses are transferred to a cultivation medium which includes plant hormones which cause the undifferentiated cells to transform into shoots and roots. This will cause hundreds of plantlets to grow from each callus.
Right after the plantlets have matured sufficiently, they are replanted in to fresh beakers to develop further. As soon as they have attained a size in which they will survive in open air, they are removed from the flasks and transferred into planting pots. These brand new plants are allowed to grow within the securely controlled conditions of a green house for a time. Then, soon after they have adjusted to living in open air, they are sent back to the cultivator for transplanting in to his fields.
