Hurricane Katia 2011: A new tropical system has developed in last 48 hours southwest of Cape Verde in the Atlantic Ocean. Called by Hurricane Katia, this tropical system was strengthened and became a tropical storm.
15:00 UTC, Katia was centered by the points 12.3 ° N and 33.4 ° W, and 1010 km southwest of Cape Verde.
Irene is moving towards the north northeast at an average speed of 28 km / h winds at 72 km / h on average 96 km / h burst near the center. The pressure is estimated at 1003 hPa.
Katia could strengthen in the coming days. At present, it is not expected to directly affect the Caribbean Katia, however, the outer bands of the system could cause the large time between 3 and 6 September.
