What does a cubicle 15 schedule say about Windows 8?

microsoft publisher 2010 officially announced how the Technical Preview of their next release of Microsof company publisher 2010, code-named Office 15, has begun. According to PJ Hough, who runs the Office division at Microsoft, "everyone will have the ability to try the Office 15 public beta later come early july. "

My ZDNet colleague Linda Jo Foley says your girlfriend sources tell her the fact that goal is to launch Office 15 to manufacturing until the end of the calendar year.

That ambitious schedule says plenty about the solidity of Windows 8, if past experience is usually any guide.

During recent release cycles, Office has tracked House windows in predictable fashion. Office 2007 shipped simultaneously as Windows Vista. Office 2010 lagged Windows 7 by way of quarter or two. With Office 2010, a Technical Preview ended up being made available around duration as the microsoft publisher launch candidate. The Office 2010 beta appeared around duration as general availability with Windows 7.

A little lag at the office schedule compared to Windows is wise from a business viewpoint. Office is still the enterprise product, and only the most daring companies are deploying a new Windows version within the day it's released. In addition, some Office features rely upon underlying OS capabilities. Having a free beta available having a finished (or nearly so) operating system is a wonderful way for corporate prospects to kick the auto tires of both products.

When I was preaching about Office 15 with a colleague a couple of months ago, I said I expected it with the first half of 2013. This advanced schedule shows that Microsoft's development teams pertaining to both Windows and Company are hitting on many cylinders. What's most impressive around the Office announcement is exactly how that all the separate products are finally being unified for a passing fancy timeline:

With Office 15, for the first moment ever, we will simultaneously modernize our cloud services, servers, and mobile and COMPUTER clients for Office, Office 365, Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, Project, and Visio.

Based on this routine, I think it's clearly possible we'll see Microsoft windows 8 finished and transported to OEMs before Labor Morning. ARM tablets running an important preview version of a"Metro-ized" Office could even be available by then.

Over the weekend, several of my more skeptical journalist and expert friends expressed doubts with regards to Microsoft's progress with Glass windows 8, with at least you believing firmly that Windows 8 will slip into 2013.

This announcement tells me which the Windows team might be preparing a great upside surprise for all those skeptics.
