Yeast infections are very, very unpleasant. Whenever I develop one I am always very anxious to get rid of it, and unfortunately it seems like I get them several times a year. Did you know that when you pick up a product for a candida infection, you are just temporarily treating it? Chances are if you had one, it will happen again and again. The good news is that with a few simple changes to the way you live, you can say adios to yeast infections forever.

Here are a few of the more common causes that can increase your chance for an infection:

1) A High Stress Level: When we get stressed out our body has to work harder to maintain itself. This leaves it open to potential yeast. If you feel stressed out in your life, you will certainly want toI would encourage you to take steps to relax. A candida infection is just one of the many things that can happen when you are stressed out.

2) Overdoing it With Antibiotics: Antibiotics can do a lot of good, saving us from infections, but they also kill the bacteria that we have in our bodies that actually fight off yeast infections. Try to limit your use of antibiotics and only use when you have to: Food with a lot of sugar (and also alcohol) contain ingredients that will increase your chance of developing a yeast infection. Be sure to eat these foods in moderation.

So what kinds of things then, can you do to help decrease the chance of a yeast outbreak?

1) Eat Yogurt on a Regular Basis: Natural, non-flavored yogurt contains a great deal of Lactobacillus acidophilus. This helpful bacteria does a great job of fighting off potential yeast infections.

2) Avoid Damp Underwear: Yeast infections thrive in damp, wet areas. Be sure to stay away from clothing that is damp. Cotton underwear does a great job of staying dry.

These are just some of the important things that you can do to fight off those nasty yeast infections. Remember, when you treat a yeast infection with medicine, you are only treating the symptoms. If you do not take a closer look at how you developed the infection you are just opening yourself up for a chronic infection.

Did you know you can cure your yeast infection for good in 12 hours or less and never have to worry about it again? Learn more about a cure for yeast infections here.

Diet and Weight Loss   by Cookie

My name is Cookie and for those of you dieting and trying to lose weight, read this article because you are NOT alone!

As with many people I know, weight loss has been an issue for me alot lately. During alot of my time in highschool, and also when I was in junior high I was quite athletic and didn't have much of a problem staying at a healthy weight. This was so because I was very active and played alot of sports. Then college time came and so did the "freshman - 15". It never really got me down though because I always felt that stick thin wasn't that attractive and curves can be very flattering in the right portion. It wasn't the freshman 15 worried me but instead, it was the 50 lbs that I gained in the following years of adult hood.

My most recent memory of being very content with my weight was back in 2003.I was living in Florida working for Disney as an intern. I really think that was the most fun I have ever had really. I probably could have written a very nice blog about it back then had I been into that at the time. I will save you from the details thought.

During my ventures in Disney I was around 160 lbs and 5 foot 8 inches and was nice and toned. I would absolutely LOVE to have that back! Well, now, bout 5 long years following that I have somehow allowed 50 evil lbs somehow make their way onto this body of mine. And its taken that many to give me a wake up call that its time to get serious and get losin!

My reasonings for losing weight are not to be some skinny little thing that can strutt her stuff in a mini skirt and tube top but so that I can be a healthier me and so I can live a better lifestyle. It is important that you do this for yourself and not because you want to look hot for your husband or boyfriend or to pick up men.Its alright if that is a little of the reason, because I wont lie, I would love to be the hot girl that my boyfriend brags about, but it shouldnt be the main motivational factor because you will end up giving up on it. Desire this because you would like to have fun time with the little ones and not get exhausted before they so. Do this because you are in love and you want to stay as healthy as possible so you can have a long life with them or so you can see your family grow up. Or maybe you like the sound of having a change in your life. But whatever you decide, the only way you will succeed is if you want and desire it 100%

I now am 5 foot 8 inches and I am at 210.8 lbs. gross!!! I really thought that there would never be a time when I would cross over that 200 mark! Even when I was weighing in at 197. I really felt it wasn't possible. But here I am at 210.8, my name is cookie and I am pleased to meet you.

I know that this is my first time blogging and that I am no sort of dietitian or aerobics instructor but I have been riding this weight roller coaster for a while now and the hills seem to get higher and higher. I am ready to get off now! I have done so much research on all the ways to lose weight and what diets are in that I really could probably write a book. But instead I decided to start with some articles about what Ive tried and what has worked for me so far and I thought seemed a little bogus. I hope that I can help offer my knowledge into this subject and let you see my progress at the same time. This is something that so many are having a difficult time with and I would at least like to let you know that you are not alone.

Follow along with me as I record my progress and offer my tips and tools through this journey at my blog, Losing Weight with Cookies

Make-Up Tips

By: Sarah Gray

How do you feel about your make-up? Do you experiment with each season’s new colours? Or do you think you still apply your make-up the same way you did 10 years ago?

Many women I meet say the latter. They are almost embarrassed that they don’t know how to wear make-up properly. But, who really teaches us? There was no Make-Up option on the school subjects list! And if our mothers were not make-up wearers, we don’t have them as a make-up role model either.

You will be pleased to know that there are a few basic rules we need in order for us to apply our make-up to help us look our best.

Colours

If we wear a full face of make-up or are having just a lipstick day, it is crucial that we wear make-up in the colours which suit our colourings. We need to consider our hair colour, eye colour and skin tone.

Ensuring we are wearing the correct shade of foundation is an easy technique to learn. My experience has shown me that many women test a foundation colour on the back of their hand. Try standing in front of a mirror (wearing no make-up), hold the back of your hand up to the side of your face – is it the same colour? Rarely do we find that it is. So, next time, test foundation at your jaw line, where the lightest part of your skin, the part you need to match against, is found. The importance of colour extends further than just our foundation. We need to consider the right eyeshadows, eye pencils, blushers and lipstick shades. A Colour Me Beautiful Make-Up Lesson will show you just that; your best make-up colours to suit your colouring.

Eye Shape

Learn how to apply your eye make-up to suit the shape of your eyes. Maybe it will be the use of lighter shades or perhaps the use of eye pencil to enhance your eyes.

If you wear glasses, brighter or softer shades could enhance your eyes depending on whether you are short or long sighted.

Technique

Your Make-Up Lesson will also teach you simple, effective techniques for applying all your make-up; from foundation to eyeshadows, blusher to lip pencil. The key is being able to recreate the look when you get home and so your Consultant will ensure you are given hints and tips which are simple and which are appropriate for the time you have each day!

Day to Evening

Some of us like to alter our make-up for an evening event or special occasion. During your Make-Up Lesson, your Consultant will show you how to easily and quickly adapt your daytime look to one which is appropriate for an evening.

Most importantly, your make-up should be up-to-date and appropriate. That is appropriate for the workplace, your age and your personality. So, one thing your Colour Me Beautiful Make-Up Lesson will not do for you is make you into something you are not.

Before the 20th century, furniture designers used only handicraft art. However, in the 20th century, the whole scenario is changed due to the emergence of new and innovative techniques. It has become a commercial industry and furniture designers at present use new materials. The panache and elegance of the designs crafted by furniture designers are globally recognized. The 20th century furniture designers create innovative designs with the new age technology. This period of the 20th century furniture designers is known as the classic furniture, modern furniture or contemporary furniture.

Prominent Furniture Designers:

Charles Rennie. Mackintosh

Charles was a Scottish architect and furniture designer born in the year 1868. He was a representative of the Glasgow school and one of the founders of Art Nouveau. The geometric shapes inspired him and his designs were a reflection of geometric shapes of straight lines with long simple curves in a rectangular framework and unornamented facade. His most commended furniture was for Glasgow tearoom and other numerous private palaces. His work depicted the decorative floral themes. In 1923, he started painting, leaving his career of architect. Charles passed away in the year 1928 in London.

Hugo Alvar Henrik Aalto

Alvar Aalto was born on February 3, 1898. He was a Finnish architect as well as one of the most prominent furniture designers. Artek is the name of his manufacturing company. He excogitated a new cast of laminated bent-plywood furniture in 1932. He used bent plywood with a light birch finish in his work. Artek is still manufacturing some of Aalto’s best works.

Shiro Kuramata
Shiro Kuramata was born in Japan in the year 1934 and was an interior as well as furniture designer. He broke down the trend of furniture designers by designing with innovative materials such as glass, steel mesh, corrugated aluminum and acrylic conserving the Japanese’s concept.

He started his career in 1957 by working in a small departmental store and then went on to open his own workshop Tokyo in 1965 after working as a designer for the merchandising giant Matsuy. He was inspired by Ettore Sottsass after joining the Memphis group and used bright colors in his work. His work of “How High the Moon” was a cleverly designed by using the material of steel mesh. It offers a traditional structure. The shape is of conventional furnished armchair. It has a transparent appearance, which indicates a tension between the object’s form and its function. He also designed the homage to Hoffman “Begin the Beguine” in 1985 and the Design of acrylic roses chair "Miss Blanche" in 1988. In the year 1990, he won the award of Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. He passed away in the year 1991.

Conclusion:

Many more furniture designers had an expertise in their work. All the furniture designer have their own exclusive piece of work for which the furniture designers will be always commemorated for their excellence contributed in the field of furniture designing. Furniture designers have been famous from the carpenter age to the present day. The furniture designers whether in the traditional period or medieval period are always an important part for decorating and making our homes and offices a beautiful place.

When I get home and have short time to prepare lunch, the quickest dish is always pasta. You can easily have a complete meal in 10 minutes (plus the time to boil the water).

Pasta is a genuine food, that mostly of the times contain only water and wheat flour, being safe for people of all ages. The difference is how we dress it. But following the rules of Mediterranean Diet, that combines vegetables with carbohydrates, if the right quantity of fat (good fat) is used, it can really be considered a high quality meal for all ages.

The number of calories of a pasta dish (not considering the dressing) is around 300 kcal. Plus the dressing it makes a complete meal for about 600kcal, that matches perfectly with a balanced and healthy diet.

There are many industrialized dressings that may contain chemicals, but as seen along the following recipes, it is really easy and simple to cook a good and genuine meal with easy-to-find fresh ingredients.

Tasty Pasta with Tuna

This recipe is my children’s favorite one. It’s a complete meal as you have pasta (carbohydrates), extra virgin olive oil (good fat), grated parmesan and tuna (proteins).

You’ll need for 4 people:
400gr of pasta (500gr if you want a unique and complete dish)
3 cans of tuna with olive oil (I use the 160gr can)
5 anchovies fillets
4 pieces of garlic (chopped)
3 spoons of extra virgin olive oil
4 or 5 spoons of grated parmesan
1 lemon juice

How to do it:
Put the pasta into the boiling salted water and set your timer for the cooking time (part of the goodness of a pasta dish is its correct cook – a too much cooked pasta loses taste).

Then put the extra virgin olive oil inside a frying pan and add the chopped garlic, the minced anchovies fillets and soon after the tuna. Mix it all, add a small piece of peperoncino (optional) and right before turning the gas off, add the lemon juice.

When the pasta is done, drain it with a colander and put it back inside the pan. Add the tuna mix and the grated parmesan. Mix it all well and…it’s ready.

Tagliatelle Alfredo

I got this recipe from a waiter of Alfredo’s restaurant at Epcot Center, many years ago.

You’ll need (for 4 people):
400gr of tagliatelle(fresh fettuccine would be great)
250gr cream
120gr of a good quality grated parmesan
1 spoon of butter

How to do it:
After putting the pasta inside the boiling salted water (tip: add a thread of oil to the water. It avoids fresh pasta to attach one with another), take a pan and put the butter, the cream and the grated parmesan together. Take it to low gas and mix it until it gets hot, but not boiling.

When the pasta is done, drain it with a colander and add the warm cream and mix it all. It’s done.

Pasta with bottarga and cherry tomatoes

Here you need to have grated bottarga, but it worths the expense.

You’ll need (for 4 people):
400 gr of spaghetti
4 spoons of extra virgin olive oil
4 or 5 pieces of garlic, chopped
Minced parsley
500gr of cherry tomatoes
Grated bottarga

How to do it:
After putting the spaghetti into the boiling salted water, put the extra virgin olive oil inside a pan, add the chopped garlic and parsley and let it color a little. Then add the cherry tomatoes cut in halfs, mix it with the rest for a while and then turn off the gas.

When the pasta is done, add this mix adding the grated bottarga. Perfect with a glass of good white wine.
Enjoy!
