How to Sell Used Books on Amazon

Most everybody does it: clicks on the used books link on Amazon. It’s one of the better ways to save money on books online. If you have some books gathering dust on a shelf, you can become one of these sellers.

Instructions

Step1

Go to the Amazon page for the book you want to sell. Underneath the “Add to Shopping Cart” button, you’ll see the “Sell yours here” button. Click it.

Step2

Select the condition: from Used-Acceptable to New. Check the book—make sure if there’s writing or highlighting on the pages.

Step3

Write a short description: 1000 characters or less, such as “Some spine wear, no writing on the pages, good reading copy.”

Step4

Choose the price. Note: go to the used books page for the book. Check and see the other prices of the books. Set the lowest price available (if this is feasible and affordable) or else set your own market value for the book. Another note: Amazon requires that you set the price at least 10% below the Amazon price.

Step5

Set Shipping type (normally Standard Shipping).

Step6

Amazon notifies you by email when the book sells. You must ship within two days of the book being sold. Package the book securely and write “Your Amazon Marketplace Puchase” on the envelope. Include a return address. Include the Amazon order slip. You can email the buyer, but this is not required.

How to Use Photoshop Blur for Retouching

Who among us hasn't taken a photo that needed a little TLC? Using Photoshop's Blur Tool, you can soften hard edges, blur a distracting background and help refocus on the eye on the central subject in your photo.

Instructions

Step1

Open your photo in Photoshop and use the Magnifying Tool to enlarge the photo to 200 or 300 magnification. When working with Photoshop's retouching tools, the easier it is for you to see the target area, the easier your retouching job will be, especially when you're working around an element of the photo that you do not want to retouch.

Step2

Select the "Blur Tool" from the Toolbox. Blur is shaped like a tear drop and shares a fly-out menu with the "Sharpen Tool" and the "Smudge Tool."

Step3

Select the appropriate brush size from the "Brush" pull down menu on the "Options Bar" (located across the top of the screen). The small arrow in the corner of the brush palette allows you to choose the brush diameter and hardness.

Step4

Be aware that on the "Options Bar," to the right of the "Brush Palette" is a "Strength" slider that you can set to a percentage. The lower the percentage chosen, the less effect the Blur Tool will have.

Step5

Draw with the mouse over the area you want to blur. Using a low percentage on the "Strength" slider allows you greater control over the blur. You may have to blur over the same area several times (think of this as though you were applying ultra-light coats of paint) in order to get the desired effect.
