When your family is growing and your four-door sedan is becoming too small with the rest of the family (and the dog) inside, it only means one thing: you should replace your sedan with a minivan. Moreover, if you were someone who simply wants to do some good with the environment, make that minivan a hybrid minivan. The Need for a Hybrid Minivan A hybrid minivan's roomy interior is the reason why a lot of people, mostly with children, have been wanting for such a car instead of a regular sedan. Also, it has been known that a minivan, hybrid or not, is fuel-efficient as compared to big trucks, SUV's and sedans with 6 cylinders. Although a growing family needs a roomier or bigger car, it doesn't need something that will add up to the family budget (especially for fuel consumption). Aside from these, a hybrid minivan although is spacious, is light to carry because of its light exterior and aerodynamics. "Muscled" Hybrids, Not Minivan Today, there hasn't been any hybrid minivan running the streets of any US states, although other brands have been marketing large SUV's as minivan or an alternative to it. Yet, these "muscled" hybrids are not minivans and don't have the qualities of a true-blue minivan: fuel saver, spacious yet light, and therefore, cannot be labeled as a "hybrid minivan." On the other side of the coin, muscled hybrids are good, too, especially if you are the outgoing type. Four-wheel drives, SUVs and trucks can run smoothly on rocky, dusty and uneven roads. And in flooded areas, they can move with power, assuring you and your passenger of a safe ride. The downside of muscled or hybrid trucks is that they are more expensive, consume more fuel and electricity from the battery pack, and are too bulky for city ride. Toyota's Minivan The most anticipated brand of hybrid minivan is Toyota, a Japanese car manufacturer. Toyota holds the top spot in terms of sales for hybrid cars in the US. It enjoys 60% market share on the total sales of US hybrid cars. The two most highly publicized and rated are Toyota's Sienna hybrid and Estima hybrid. These two hybrid minivans are at the top of their class in terms of design, aerodynamics, fuel-efficiency and engine performance. The Soccer Moms' Fave Hybrid Minivan Sienna hybrid is a hybrid minivan that soccer moms would love. In fact, even the machismo image of most males won't be stepped on by this well-designed hybrid minivan. Sienna resembles the design of regular Toyota minivans. The only differences, of course, is the sleeker and more modern look and the dual energy mode of hybrids. Sienna's big brother, Estima hybrid, possesses most of Sienna's positive features, and more. More Efficient Than Ever Some car makers have announced redesigns to make the minivan even more fuel efficient than it is now. Although already known to be fuel saver, the redesign allows the hybrid minivan to consume fuel as efficient and as slow as a compact four-door sedan. As per estimate, the latest hybrid van could run efficiently by 35 miles with a single gallon of fuel. The most interesting and most talked about feature of the most advanced hybrid minivan is its exhaust heat recovery system. According to the manufacturers, this exhaust system allows the recovery of thermal energy that the engine has produced, and routes such energy to heat up the engine coolant. This process is an effective way to help the engine to warm up even if the car is idle. This way, the energy that would have been wasted (thermal energy from exhaust) has been converted into a positive energy, and thus allows the engine of the hybrid van to shut off earlier and turn on without using up energy from fuel or from the battery pack. articles by: Ernest Jarquio
Major car manufacturers have made claims that the hybrids are the vehicles of the future. This is due to the demand that people are now making as a way of negotiating the overpriced gas prices that have risen steadily over the past few years. The hybrid vehicle is certainly the solution that many people have been searching for. Gas prices have increased so dramatically over the recent years that many people are using public vehicles as way of going about their everyday lives instead of using their cars. So are hybrid electric vehicles the answer? It appears so as since the launch of hybrid vehicles and promise of cost savings the sales for many hybrid cars were much higher than expected. It is fully understandable that many people have keenly awaited the launch of the hybrid automobiles on the car market. It's time to discuss the technical aspects of the hybrid. Such vehicles are generally referred by that name if they run on joint power. Which is currently petrol and electricity which is stored in large capacity batteries. The reason why hybrid cars save fuel is because the car is not permanently running on petrol. There are time when the car is powered by the electricity from the batteries. This is the reason why the consumption of gasoline is dramatically lowered thus reducing the petrol bills of the owner. Over the years the technology that is involved in making a hybrid cars is constant evolving which is helping the manufactures make significant strides in modifying and making continuous improvements. Hybrid vehicles use a rechargeable energy storage system that is also referred to as RESS which comes with a propeller that supplies the fueled propulsion power that drives the car. Other countries refer to the hybrid automobile as a petroleum electric hybrid which also goes by the name of hybrid electric vehicle that use petrol to help provide the cars internal combustion engines, technical term being ICEs and the electric batters provide the requirement to power the electrical motors. The major car companies from all over the world are currently in tight race to produce hybrid cars on a large scale. They seem to believe that hybrid electric vehicles the answer to many commuters large gasoline bills. The competition is getting so stiff that these types of cars are becoming more intensely marketed with the cars becoming more stylish. Opportunities do really come in time of crises so giant car makers are rushing to each offer the consumers their own hybrid car versions and models and at the same time, underpin rising demand for such cars, equating logically to higher sales and company revenues. Japan's Honda and Toyota corps are definitely market leaders in the race to control the hybrid car market not only in Japan but in US and many other countries from around the world. The price increase of petrol is playing a key part but also people are becoming more aware of the environment issues that arise from driving a regular vehicle on a daily basis. Other car manufacturers follow suit, and it is expected that in the next couple of years, more and more hybrid vehicles are to be unveiled in the market by the two car makers and their aggressive competitors. No wonder, because hybrid vehicles are tagged not only as oil and cost-saving cars but also as environment-friendly vehicles. Yes, you read it right. Because hybrid vehicles have reduced gasoline consumption, it follows that smoke and greenhouse gas emissions are also significantly reduced. Buying a hybrid vehicle is like killing two birds with one stone. Now only will you be saving on oil and gasoline costs but you will also be playing your part in saving the environment by cutting down on gas emissions that are having a very negative affect on the earths atmosphere.

As a car owner it's crucial to take your car maintenance seriously. Too often we see that unnecessary expenses are generated just because of ignorance, lack of knowledge or even lazyness. If you neglect the maintenance of your vehicle it may not only give huge car repair costs, it can make you and others injured for life or in worst case you can loose it. For this purpose I have crammed together a few tips for how to perform a regular maintenance of your car, focusing on the most important tasks.
Tip #1 - Regular Fluids Check - When I say fluid I don't mean gas; although it's vital to know when you have to tank. I mean oil, transmission fluid and engine coolant. It goes without saying that these are crucial maintenance issues that shouldn't be taken easy on. If you find that the levels are too low, add enough fluid immediately, thus preventing engine collapse that can take your leg and your arm to repair. Tip #2 – Get Regular Oil Changes – Another important thing to remember to keep your car in great shape is to make sure that you get regular oil changes. The oil in your car is the life of your engine, so if you don't change the oil often enough, it could ultimately cause engine problems. You should have the oil changed about every 3000 miles for the best results. So, be sure that you take the time to make sure that the oil is changed on a regular basis for the best performance. Tip #3 – Check the Air in Your Tires – Checking the air in your tires is important when it comes to car maintenance as well. If you don't have enough air in your tires it can cause the tires to wear down faster and too much air can be a problem as well. Tires often lose air in the winter due to the cold; however, you should be sure that you routinely check the air in your tires during any season. If the air is too low, make sure that you add some. You can check the specs on your tires to find out how many pounds of air will be the best for your tires. Tip #4 – Keep the Car Washed and Waxed Regularly – Of course you will need to keep the body of your car up as well, so it is important that you keep the car waxed and washed on a regular basis as well. This will help to keep the body clean, shiny, and of course free from any corrosion problems, which is important as well. As you can see, car maintenance is extremely important.
