Have you ever needed to think about rapid weight loss for any reason? We all have thought about thing at least once in our lives. There are going to be times in everyone's life that they either just think about rapid weight loss or have to deal with this same thing for one reason or another. The reasons for needing to loose weight rapidly are as various as the stars; and different for the people involved. You may need to consider this for health reasons (which is the most common); or simply because you are not happy with the way you look and feel. If you are simply thinking about or contemplating this matter; think about why you are thinking about this if you have no need of losing any weight. Changing How You Think You will be pleasantly surprised by the changes in your self-esteem when you start thinking differently about yourself. This might just change your thoughts if you are seriously thinking that you must lose weight to be a desirable person. You might just find out that rapid weight loss actually is not the answer for you! Thinking that you must be a certain weight or clothing size to be attractive to others is actually not the best in the world; and can lead you into some very serious and even dangerous thought patterns and health situations. Talk With Reliable Sources If you are considering rapid weight loss for any reason (personal or medical), the best thing that you can do to be sure that you are as well informed as you can possibly be is to start talking to some very reliable people; such as your personal doctor or a R.N. or weight loss counselor about the possible medical reasons for this, as well as all risks involved. If your reasons for this are only personal, you might want to talk things out with trusted friends or even speak to a counselor, clergy person or therapist about your thoughts and emotions. You might find that you do not really need to lose weight in this case, just change your thinking. Change Your Eating Habits This is one thing that people really do not think that much about. If you are eating mainly junk food or your diet consists of all processed foods; you will end up gaining weight like crazy! The best thing to do is to start adding more raw vegetables and whole foods; as you start cutting back on the junk and processed foods. If you are in the move all the time and eating a whole lot of fast food or eat in restaurants more than a couple of time a week, you might want to change where you eat and/or what you are eating. Choosing the items that have more vegetables and possibly whole grain breads and wraps is another good way to keep your system tuned up and will help you to avoid the need for a rapid weight loss. Be As Active As Possible This is a very simply way to keep from having to deal with the issue of rapid weight loss, stay as physically active as you possibly can. Constant physical activity and cardio-intensive exercise helps you keep in shape so much better than just the other things above alone. This will not work by itself either, it works together.

Aerobic Exercise and Your Heart Whether you use a treadmill, a jump rope or a daily walk, it is common knowledge that aerobic exercise is great for weight loss and good heart health. Even though a huge majority of Americans are obese or at least unhealthily overweight, you don't have to join the masses (please excuse the pun). Since you only have one heart…and if that heart stops beating, you are dead, you will be happy to learn that simple, consistent aerobic exercise can improve your heart health. The basic idea is that the more aerobic exercise you can fit into your schedule, the healthier your heart is going to be. This may seem too obvious, but there are specific reasons that this is true. When it comes to the connection between aerobic exercise and heart health the basic point is that by doing aerobic exercise you are giving yourself a work out where your heart and lungs are constantly moving faster than they are when you are resting. By causing your heart to work daily, you are making it stronger. You cannot do this through anaerobic exercise like lifting weights. When it comes to exercise and heart health, you should increase your workout at a reasonable pace. You can measure your exercise through miles or blocks that you walk or run, or you can use a machine. Exercise Machines - Whether or not to use them While running, walking or jump rope can be free or quite inexpensive, some people choose to invest into a machine for their aerobic exercise. Exercise machines have become quite popular for working out simply because they can sometimes be easier to use and get used to. Whether it is too hot or raining cats and dogs outside, you can still use your exercise machine indoors. Two of the more popular machines include tread mills and bicycles. Simply put, these two machines are handy and easy to use. You can use the exercise bike or treadmill at any time – you could even use one in your living room while reading a book or listening to a book on CD. Another benefit of an exercise machine, is that you will see that item as a daily reminder so that you don't forget your aerobic workout. Safety While Doing Aerobics You can use aerobic exercises in order to lose weight, build lean muscle, and keep your heart healthy. However, you need to be careful that you do not injure yourself. Lets look at a few basic tips to keep your aerobics exercise fun, safe and long lasting. One tip is to find the right outfit. Wearing good sports shoes is important. Aerobics exercise require a lot of movement, so you want shoes that fit you securely and provide good support. You also need to choose an outfit that is not too tight or constricting and that breathes well, so you do not overheat. Another point to consider is your area of exercise. Plenty of space for moving around without hitting anything is a given. But also make sure that the machines you are touching are clean so that you do not get some nasty viral infection or bacteria. The machines also need to be in good condition so you do not get hurt. Lastly, make sure that you do not push yourself too much. If you are really trying to lose weight, you may want to consult with your doctor first in order to know more about staying safe while exercising. Warm up. Cool down. Stretch. Eat right, Get your supplements. Stay consistent from week to week with your aerobic exercise. Have fun in the gym.

Oftentimes keeping to a strict diet or even a daily exercise routine isn't enough to reduce those stubborn fat pockets. However, there may be light at the end of the tunnel. New minimally invasive procedures for fat reduction, including lipodissolve, Smartlipo, and Ultrashape, may be just the right solution for dealing with these problem areas. SMARTLIPO™: Smartlipo is a device that is marketed as a less invasive means of fat reduction compared to traditional liposuction. The device uses a laser lipolysis mechanism where a 1064 nm laser contained in a 1-2mm cannula is inserted into the skin via a small excision and causes fat cell rupture. The ruptured fat cells are then removed via liposuction. The procedure typically takes about 60 minutes and only 1 treatment is required to achieve desired results. Minimal pain or bruising may occur, however full recovery is expected within 1 to 2 days. SMOOTHSHAPES: The Smoothshapes device utilizes a technology, termed Photomology by the manufacturer, to minimize enlarged fat cells. The device is said to reduce fat pockets and cellulite. Through a combination of laser and light energy along with rollers and vacuum suction on the surface of the skin, triglycerides are released from fat cells. The released material moves through the lymphatic system for drainage by natural processes. Slight redness may occur after treatment but downtime is minimal. ULTRASHAPE: The Ultrashape device uses focused ultrasound waves on the surface of the skin to disrupt fat cells in the body without affecting other cells or structures. The disrupted fat cells are excreted through natural processes. The procedure typically takes about 45-60 minutes and up to 3 treatments may be required to achieve desired results. Many patients report no pain after the procedure and an immediate return to a daily routine. This procedure is not yet approved or available in the United States. LIPODISSOLVE: Lipodissolve is a minimally invasive procedure using a "fat-melting" solution that is delivered through a series of microinjections over a period of several weeks. The solution often consists of many different chemicals, the most common being phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate, commonly called PC/DC. Despite the growth in lipodissolve use, consumers should be wary of this treatment given the fact that the FDA has deemed the lipodissolve solution, "unapproved drugs for unapproved uses and we cannot guarantee consumers' safety." Few clinical investigations have been performed to show that the treatment is safe and effective. Prominent US Medical Societies have also warned physicians and patients against the use of PC/DC for fat reduction. In addition, the cosmetic treatment has been banned in several countries, including Brazil and the UK. Minimally invasive procedures may be the ticket to getting rid of those stubborn pockets of fat and unsightly cellulite on your belly including love handles, behind your arms, in the thighs and buttocks and elsewhere. Ugh! Make sure to do your research and consult with a physician before undergoing any medical procedure to determine which procedures are FDA approved, are safe and effective and which can be expected to work best with your treatment objectives.

Keeping a healthy weight is a problem for most people. And, if you are suffering from hypo or hyperthyroidism, weight becomes even more difficult to control. Weight problems often accompany thyroid conditions. Let us first understand why weight is altered because of thyroid cases. Thyroid Glands and Weight Our thyroid gland produces the right amount of hormones needed by the body for metabolism. If there is under secretion of the hormones, the body may not be able to metabolize fully. This means that you can store more fats and you can burn fewer calories. If your thyroid is hypersecreting hormones for metabolism, it can lead to faster calorie burning in the body. You'd store less fat and you can eliminate more waste from the body. At first glance, hypersecretion of hormones may be of help to a lot of people. Who wouldn't want to burn lots of calories and keep unwanted fat from the body? But if you take a deeper look into the problem, a hyperactive thyroid can cause more than the amount of weight loss you need. Instead of the desired effects, your body can be severely malnourished from a hyperthyroid secretion. Either way, weight problems surface in hypo and hyperthyroid cases. Knowing the Level of Hormones Keeping your weight in check means stabilization of the thyroid hormones in the body. If the hormones are controlled, there is a better chance of manipulating weight loss and weight gain. Through constant follow up with your doctors, you can achieve the desired weight. In both thyroid cases, medications are the way to achieve a healthy weight. Through maintenance of these drugs, you can keep yourself from becoming under or overweight. However, it is important to note that uncontrolled medications can also lead to problems. The doctor should have your thyroid levels checked from time to time so he may make changes in the dosage of your thyroid medications. The patient should also comply with the kind of treatment given by the doctor to make sure that weight problems do not surface. Daily Weight Checks Even when at home, you need to keep a close watch on your weight. Through complying with the treatment regimen and daily weight measurements, you can possibly prevent malnourishment or obesity. The doctor may require you to have an accurate scale at home so you can monitor your weight every day. You have to make a list of your daily measurements so you can observe any significant changes to report to the doctor. If your weight gets too high or too low, you can visit the physician and ask for a dosage change. The doctor will first require some blood tests before altering your medications. Food Watch Being food conscious is also an important plan to include in your weight check. If you are taking anti thyroid medications, your weight can easily shoot up. Because the body lowers its metabolism rate, you also have to lower your food intake. Of course, a nutritionist or a dietician should plan your diet. The physician has to ensure proper nutrition so you don't gain too much weight from ingesting your medication. If you are taking thyroid supplements, your body can develop a faster metabolic process. If this happens, you could lose weight easily. Although the drug can be helpful at first, it can cause significant weight loss problems after time. Again, monitoring your thyroid hormones and the dosage of your medications is extremely important to maintaining a healthy weight. Proper Exercise Weight can also be maintained through exercise. After you have recovered from a hyperthyroid state, you can begin doing some exercises to prevent gaining too much weight. Your doctor will recommend a good exercise plan so your medications won't cause problems with your weight. In a hypothyroid patient, exercise is also given priority. The doctor will also recommend a good exercise regimen to the hypothyroid patient so obesity won't be a problem.

If you have a young person in your life with a weight problem… acknowledged or not… this latest study is going to give you a unique way to encourage healthy habits. Reading. Obesity researchers at Duke University found that reading (the last activity that you'd expect) helped teen girls enrolled in weight loss programs. The researchers looked at 31 obese girls, between the ages of 9 and 13 who were enrolled in the Healthy Lifestyles Program at Duke Children's Hospital. The average body mass index (BMI) of the young subjects in the study was 27 to 28. Girls of this age usually have a BMI of between 16 and 19. The program, now in its second successful year, works to address patients' medical, dietary and behavioral needs. Treatment includes an extensive initial evaluation, an intensive lifestyle intervention phase that lasts six months and a maintenance phase that remains in place until adulthood. As part of their program, some of the girls read a novel titled Lake Rescue, where the heroine is an overweight girl struggling with low self esteem, isolation and teasing. Another group of obese girls read a different novel, and a smaller group didn't read at all. Here's the strange thing… all the girls who read books lost weight, but the ones who read the book with the overweight theme lost significantly more. The Lake Rescue readers lowered their body mass by .71, compared to .33 for the other group of readers. The girls who did not read saw an increase of .05 in BMI. The idea behind the approach was to find something to motivate the teens, without being strict and authoritative. The book was the perfect choice as it presents a likeable character who works through her issues and learns to make healthier choices. And since there aren't many choices to help young teens loose weight, reading is a unique approach that can be helpful on many levels. All of us need to be aware of the epidemic proportions of childhood obesity in our country. Truth is, this didn't start overnight, it has roots as far back as the 1960s. Fast food and gargantuan portion sizes continue to play their part. As do the TV and computer, keeping kids sitting so much of the time. Throw in some fear for their safety, and working parents who don't have the flexibility to take kids to sporting activities and you can see how we got here. No one person is to blame, and no one person on their own can change things. But here's what you can do. Consider the results of the research as you try to reach that young person you know could use help. Choose a novel with care… something well written where the main character learns to make good choices and triumphs in the end. A choice for boys might appeal to their taste, yet still convey a message that an out of shape hero can make changes, be happy and maybe even get the girl. It would also be wise to keep in mind the researchers intent for the weight loss programs — no pressure, no force, just exposure to a good message at the right time.
