Selecting The Destination For Boat TravelBy Rob Carlton Once you have decided that you would be taking a holiday on a cruise, sailing through small cities and ports, your next step would be to decide on which cruise you should opt for. One is spoilt for choice with the luxurious spread of boat trips that one can choose from. Knowing about a few simple trends and measures, could help you choose that perfect ship which would be ideal in every respect for you and make your journey a memorable one. Decide on the time span of your boat travel. Do not plan a long voyage if you have little time available on hand. Visiting one or two ports over a period of three to four days could be cheap. Fellow passengers on such cruises are likely to be youthful, partying kinds. Short, week-long cruises are more popular, and comparatively cheaper, they usually visit more ports of call. However, seven days, can pass by soon and you might still have fellow passengers who are party animals. Cruises which are longer than a week visit more ports of call and in locations more exotic, like the Mediterranean or the South of America, though your co-passengers are likely to be more restrained. The cost and time involved in such cruises hamper more people from opting for them. While making your decision, do keep in mind your budget. You have a large range to choose from and you are sure to find one that fits your choice. Web sites and travel agents could offer you great deals at low prices. Be aware of port, cruise cancellation insurance, and airfare charges and whether your cruise is charging you for them or not. Apart from time and money there are other factors which you should consider before selecting on something suitable. Time of travel, ability to carry out your hobbies, and the number of ports you want to visit, should also be considering factors. There is nothing as frustrating as being stuck at sea, while you are sailing past through beautiful islands. Some places are easily accessible and sometimes more popular during the winter; Mexico, the Caribbean, and the Panama Canal, are such destinations; but visitors should be careful of hurricane seasons. Again European and Alaskan cruises are usually not available during winter months. Incase you have other preferences apart from that of money, time and itinerary; consider them before you zero in on a particular choice. Though differences between different vessels have been lessened over time, there are a few which are better and much more luxurious than the others. Evaluations of cruise ships are available online as well as in travel journals, ask your travel agent or talk to friends. As a conclusion, remember that, scouring the available options for your next cruise however is not the time to give up what you actually want; be it an opportunity to watch whales in Alaska or have your hair braiding done in Nassau. Vacations, Travel and Gift Giving to Family and Friends By Henry Griner How many business travelers have arrived home from a trip to hear, “what did you bring me” from a daughter or son? Perhaps a friend or family member taking a vacation opened their suitcase shortly after arriving at your home and pulled out gifts for you as their way of saying “thank you” for your hospitality and opening your home to me. Or, after you and your family arrived home from your wonderful vacation visiting with friends out of state or in another country you logged onto your home computer and ordered a special thank you gift to have shipped to them. Vacations and summertime holiday trips often mean a time of meeting with new and old friends, family that you have not seen in a long time and the exchanging of gifts to show love or appreciation between on another. It’s not just the thought that counts. In some cultures, the giving of gifts can get rather complicated especially when it involves business dealings. A gift that is acceptable in one area of the world may not be appropriate to give in another area. If you are traveling to another country and plan to give a gift to your host or business associate, you need to spend a little time doing research on gift giving in that culture. As Americans we often have very different ideas about what others might think is a good gift. In some cultures that you might travel to, how you present your gift is very important. In Japan for instance, you should always present your gift to a person with both hands. In addition, when you receive a gift there, you must accept in with both hands. You need to think about the possible message that the giving of a gift might convey to someone in another culture. Giving the wrong gift at the wrong time, especially in a business setting, can become awkward or even offensive to the recipient. A good way to ensure that your gift is appropriate in the setting and for the person you intend to give it to is to check with others living in or acquainted with that culture. Ask the salesperson at the shop you are buying from, check with an associate that knows the area or read a book written about the local customs for that culture. Gift giving to family and friends even in other parts of the world is not going to be as complicated, hopefully, as it is when gifts are given in a business setting. However, you might want to check and make sure that you still are not doing something that could be culturally inappropriate or offensive. Below is a short list of gift ideas to watch out for. Giving of wine or alcohol may be OK with close friends and family but, if that friend is an observant Muslim don’t do it. Muslims do not drink alcohol. Giving of flowers is often a good gift idea but be careful that they are not the variety that traditionally are used at funerals or gravesides. In some countries like Germany, you should always unwrap the flowers before you give them to someone. Sometimes it is a numbers game when giving gifts such as flowers. In Europe you should give an odd number of flowers and be careful that the number translated in another language is not offensive or taken as bad luck. Taking time to think about your gift giving, and how it relates to the culture and the setting that you are giving it in can make the act of giving a pleasant one. Everyone likes to receive gifts and some are better received than others are. Giving gifts when you travel or visit others can be a wonderful experience for everyone. Cheap Travel - How to Save Substantially on Travel, Vacation and Entertainment Packages By Ross Williams An increasing number of individuals utilize the internet to make travel reservations. Potential travelers often make their arrangements through the company or website offering the lowest prices. Popular sites such as Hotwire offer highly discounted rates on various types of travel packages. However, these types of sites do not disclose certain information such as name of hotel or airline until after the customer has made the non-refundable purchase. Alternative travel agents generally offer similar rates to one another. However, it is possible to save significantly on your travel, vacation packages and entertainment. Every day, thousands of tickets and fares become automatically discounted by companies due to unclaimed or unsold status. Tickets are discounted by travel companies and direct providers for a variety of reasons such as unclaimed status, unsold status, discontinued status, midnight fare recalibration status and more. These tickets are then sold to travel customers for up to 90% off the original price. Previously, these types of direct discount purchases were generally only available to authorized travel agents. However, there are currently internet databases which provide these tickets for purchase to members. Anyone is eligible to join these sites. Members are provided with a searchable database of discounted flight tickets, vacations, cruises and entertainment packages. Flights and cruises are available to hundreds of destinations worldwide on every major airline and cruise line. A variety of travel options are accessible, including trips to exotic destinations, family holidays, romantic getaways, weekend deals and more. Entertainment packages include tickets to sports events, concerts, theater plays and many more. Upon sign up, users are given access to the database which usually contains listings of thousands of available packages. Members book directly with special discounts through wholesalers, travel discounters, last minute specials and air couriers. Unlike more popular discount sites, users are provided with full details before purchase. Buying through unclaimed ticket databases provides consumers with huge travel savings. Now individuals previously considering a vacation but were unable to afford it may now have the opportunity. Regular travelers can also benefit from the significant cost savings. For more information on purchasing discounted tickets visit Unclaimed-Tickets.com.
