Pumpkin Pie Recipes

 Pumpkin pie is the ideal dessert for the holiday season. The recipes can be found in cookbooks and other interesting locations. Pumpkin pie can be served with either whipped cream or ice cream. Pumpkin can be prepared like any other squash, peeling skin if so desired. Pumpkin contains some anathematic properties, which is helpful against prostate disorders, stomach problems, worms, nausea and morning sickness.

 Pumpkin pie is so yummy and delicious you will not dare to take your eyes off. It is very easy to make.   Traditional pumpkin pie is a must for top of the whipped cream for colour fresh. Pumpkins are a member of the gourd family and have similarities to other forms of winter squash such as butternut, acorn, and spaghetti squash.   Pumpkin seeds are also gaining popularity and are rich in nutrients. Pumpkin seeds can be eaten as a snack, on salads, in soups, or can be ground to create a sauce. Pumpkin pie filling is so versatile and easy to use it can be eaten as a variety of sweet and savoury treats from cookies to cheesecake.  

  Pumpkin pie is thought to have evolved from settlers who filled their hollowed pumpkins with milk and spices to create delicate gravy. Pumpkins are a universally popular Halloween decoration, but they can also be a fantastic ingredient in many autumn dishes.  

  Pumpkin pie isn't just for Thanksgiving anymore. This is the traditional pumpkin pie recipe served at holiday dinners. Filled with aromatic spices like nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger; it is a decadently delicious pumpkin pie everyone will love! Serving it with whipped cream is traditional, and making homemade whipped cream is definitely worth the extra time. The recipe follows the pumpkin pie recipe, it's the basic whipped cream recipe (very easy to make and tastes incredible). 

  Pumpkin Pie   Ingredients:  

2 cups pumpkin (canned or puree) 2 eggs 1 1/4 cups half and half (whole milk can be substituted) 2/3 cup brown sugar pinch salt 2 Tablespoons butter, melted 1 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger 9 inch pie crust (from scratch or Pillsbury)   Directions:  

1. Preheat over to 425F.  

2. Place pumpkin in a bowl, add 2 tablespoons melted butter and stir well.  

3. In a separate bowl, beat eggs well. Beat in milk, brown sugar, salt, and spices until thoroughly blended. Add in the pumpkin mixture, mix well.  

4. Pour into pie shell and place in center oven rack at 425F for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake an additional 30-40 minutes until the filling is firm.  

5. Cool and serve with whipped cream.  

Whipped Cream Ingredients:  

1 cup heavy cream 1/4 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla  

  Directions:  

1. Using an electic mixer, whip cream until almost stiff. Add sugar and vanilla; beat until cream holds peaks. Spread over top of cooled pie or serve in a chilled bowl for individual serving.

Summer Grilling - 4 Great Tasting Meat Marinade Recipes

When it comes to summertime food and backyard grilling, the first thing that comes to mind for me...some great tasting marinated meats, grilled vegetables and a nice cold dessert.

All of these recipes can be made as a marinade or you can simply just prepare the recipe and brush onto your meats as you grill them. To save time, you can prepare them the day before and refrigerate until you are ready to use them.

Tex-Mex Kick

3 tablespoons pureed Chipotle peppers
1/3 cup orange juice
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon table salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

In a medium-sized bowl, combine all of the above ingredients in the order that they are given in the recipe. Stir until they are all combined. Pour marinade into your marinating container along with your meat of choice. Refrigerate for 6 hours before grilling your meats.

Asian

1/2 cup hoisin sauce
1/4 cup plum sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons Asian Sesame oil
1 tablespoon minced ginger
1 clove of garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

In a medium-sized bowl, combine all of the above ingredients in the order that they are given in the recipe. Stir until they are all combined. Pour marinade into your marinating container along with your meat of choice. Refrigerate for 6 hours before grilling your meats.

Apricot Honey Mustard

1/4 cup apricot preserves
5 tablespoons honey mustard
1/2 teaspoon table salt
2 tablespoons lemon juice

In a medium-sized bowl, combine all of the above ingredients in the order that they are given in the recipe. Stir until they are all combined. Pour marinade into your marinating container along with your meat of choice. Refrigerate for 6 hours before grilling your meats.

Peach Honey Mustard

1/4 cup peach preserves
1/3 cup honey mustard
2 teaspoons lemon juice

In a medium-sized bowl, combine all of the above ingredients in the order that they are given in the recipe. Stir until they are all combined. Pour marinade into your marinating container along with your meat of choice. Refrigerate for 6 hours before grilling your meats.

BBQ Chicken Recipes - Best in Summer

On a hot summer day, there is no better way to enjoy great conversation with friends and family than over some a good meal. Its the barbecue season so let's try out a few fine BBQ Chicken Recipes.

Here is a spicy hot version and a great tasting sweet one for you. So, from tart and tangy to hot and spicy, just about everyone loves this bird. Next time you like some good family and friends time, just give them a call, and let them know you are firing up the grill. We are cooking up some chicken.

Baked Barbecue Chicken

Ingredients:

2 pounds of boneless skinless chicken breast

1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce

3 tablespoons of brown sugar

1/6-ounce can of tomato paste

¾ cup of water

¼ cup of salad oil

½ a cup of diced onion

½ a teaspoon of salt

2 tablespoons of vinegar

A cup of chopped green pepper

Preparation:

In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a simmer and remove from heat. Place chicken into a glass baking-dish and pour barbecue sauce over the top. Cover with foil and bake in oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour or until chicken is no longer pink.

Remove foil during the last 15 minutes.

Honey Grilled Chicken Sandwiches

This is a simple recipe for those on the go. Toss it in the crock-pot and by dinner it will be done allowing you to spend time with the kids and get more work done. No time standing over the stove making the sauce! This sauce is made in the blender!

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons of ketchup

½ a teaspoon of paprika

1 cup of honey

1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 tablespoon of meat tenderizer

¼ cup of molasses

¼ teaspoon of salt

1/8 teaspoon of ground ginger

1/8 teaspoon of fresh ground black pepper

1 ½ cups of brown sugar

¼ teaspoon of minced garlic

1 tablespoon of seasoned salt

1/8 teaspoon dried oregano

¼ cup of steak sauce1 tablespoon prepared mustard

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Preparation:

Add all ingredients into your blender. Mix well. Pour into a large crock-pot and turn on low. Rinse chicken and place into crock-pot with prepared barbecue sauce.

Cover and let cook on low for 6- 8 hours or until chicken is tender and falling apart. Once chicken has cooked take a fork and shred it into the barbecue sauce. This should just happen as you stir the mixture anyway.

Serve on whole-wheat buns with pickles and onions for some really satisfied guests. BBQ Chicken Recipes are usually easy to prepare, and can easily compete with the more expensive beef recipes.

Grilling Fish Recipes - Delicious Cooking Ideas

Grilling fish recipes should be a staple in everyone's cookbook. The health benefits of eating fish are endless. Fish is low in bad fat, high in good fat like- omega 3 fatty acids, and high in protein.

Leading health experts are advising for people to eat one or two serves weekly. There is evidence eating regular servings of fish can reduce the risk and/or lessen the symptoms of diseases like:

Childhood asthma
Prostate cancer
Cardiovascular disease
Depression
Dementia
Arthritis
Autoimmune diseases
Obesity

Of course, these are just a few of the diseases. However, the key to a good fish diet is to avoid fish with high mercury content. Instead, look for the high omega 3 fatty acid fish , with low mercury content. Here are a few high omega 3 fatty acid fish:

Atlantic Salmon
Lake Trout
Mackerel
Herring
Albacore Tuna

Fad diets come and go; often leaving the dieter with more weight than what they started with. Research has proven that a healthy diet should be a lifestyle change, not a temporary restraint from certain foods. Drinking only water and eating only broccoli may make a person loose weight, but how long is it sustainable? Adding grilling fish recipes to a diet, for a couple of days a week, is a life style change that is sustainable.

Not only is fish good for you, but the low cooking time and ease in preparation, make it a fast and easy meal for working families.

Grilled fish isn't as boring as it may seem. Nearly every species of fish will have a different taste and texture. For example, Salmon and Trout taste nothing alike. Likewise, grilled fish is very versatile. It can be served with pretty much any sauce: pesto, lemon, béchamel, butter, tomato, garlic, etc..

These are a few idea for ways to grill your fish.

Wrap the fish in aluminum foil and place on the grill.
Place the fish directly over grill heat.
Soak a brown paper bag in olive oil, and tightly seal fish in the bag.
Place bricks over hot coals, place fish on bricks, place another brick on top of the fish.

Blackened Cajun Kicking Fish

You will need:
1 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning
1 teaspoon white pepper
1 teaspoon Creole seasoning
1 teaspoon blackened fish seasoning
1 teaspoon paprika
1 garlic clove or 1 tsp of garlic powder
1 lemon
4 fillets or 1 ½ pounds of trout
2 Tbsp of olive oil

Cut lemon in half; squeeze one half and cut the other half into circular slices.
Mince garlic.
Combine dry ingredients, lemon juice, and garlic in a small bowl.
Roll both sides of fish in the mixture.
Allow to sit for 10- 20 minutes.
Get the grill ready while fish is marinating; brush the grill with olive oil, and heat coals to 400 degrees.
Grill fish for 7 to 10 minutes on each side. The fish is done when it flakes easily.
Garnish with lemon slices.

There you have it. Simple fish recipe that is done in 30 minutes.
