Today, tattoos have become more popular than ever with the advent of popular reality shows like Miami Ink and others. Many people that would have never before considered a tattoo are flocking in droves to get them done. Some do not put a lot of thought or think in the long term before having a tattoo done. They put names of girlfriends, boyfriends, their mom, gang affiliation, crimes, etc. on their body and then after they break up with their girlfriend or similar a few weeks or months later they regret the tattoo. Worse, some even get tattooed on areas like the face and hands that can make a regular career or advancement in a professional setting impossible. This is where tattoo removal and tattoo reduction come in. Excision Excision is using a scalpel or similar to remove the affected area and then suturing and pulling together the skin to minimize scarring. If the tattoo is large or covers a big area than skin grafts may be necessary as the skin can only be pulled so taught before it will look worse, not heal right and possibly even pull apart. Skin grafts are usually taken from areas inside the thighs and underarms where scarring will be minimal and largely unseen. Excision is surgery and does usually require a sedative or even anesthesia in cases with large tattoos. Due to the advent of lasers and TCA skin peels for tattoo removal, excision is rarely used anymore. TCA skin peel Chemical peels have been around in various forms for over half a century. They were first used for treating tough calluses and corns on the feet. About 20 years ago doctors started experimenting on different areas of the skin like the face with varying strengths and mixtures. It was found that a 25 to 50 % TCA skin peel was the most effective and easiest to apply. It was also found that this peel could affect deeper skin problems like acne scarring, wrinkles and then unwanted tattoos. The TCA skin peel causes a controlled burn which results in several layers being peeled off and fresh, new skin being revealed. Many doctors now use the TCA skin peel as a very effective tattoo removal and reduction treatment. It can be either used alone or incorporated with the laser treatments described below which actually hastens healing and further reduces the chances of scarring. The TCA skin peel is so easy to use that it is now available for in home use for tattoo removal (something you will never see with laser treatment and excision).
Everyone is a unique individual. There are tall people, small people, big and obese people and people born with larger then normal and crooked, fat, or hooked noses that can alter or even plague their appearance. Cosmetic surgery has a cure for these awkward shaped and formed noses, the rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty is the medical term for plastic surgery of the nose including the cartilage and bridge. It can also correct a nose disfigured and broken due to an accident or similar. Many of these rhinoplasties are also done to correct inner nasal problems like deviated or blocked septums which can increase vulnerability to nasal and sinus infections like sinusitis and aggravation of allergies. There are two different types of rhinoplasty; augmentation (building out and or restructuring of a bent or misshapen nose) and reduction (the most popular form). A plastic or cosmetic surgeon can completely reshape a nose into almost any shape or style. Being that the smallest changes in nose shape make for the most profound results, rhinoplasty is one of the most precise of cosmetic surgery options. Just a millimeter too much or too little can make a nose look unnatural like with Bruce Jenner, Kenny Rogers or Michael Jackson. The most popular form of rhinoplasty is the nose reduction. The surgeon nowadays will use computer imaging along with the patients wants and desires show a before and after picture so the patient can see their expected outcome. Prior to the recently made available computer imaging, rhinoplasty reduction patients had to rely on their surgeons idea and word on how it would turn out. Computer imaging will also show what each little amount shaved off or reduced will do. Most good surgeons will stress that the resulting nose should fit the face and look as natural as possible (this may or may not be possible in augmentation cosmetic surgery of accident victims). Just like with breast surgeries, face lifts, TCA peels and other skin peels, and dermabrasion, no one wants anyone to say it is obvious they had plastic or cosmetic surgery and that they look fake. After the computer imaging the type of surgery is layed out and then performed. There are several parts or areas of the nose that may need surgery, general shape, tilt, bridge, cartilages, nostrils, and columella (the bottom of the nose). In most cases reduction rhinoplasty is a short operation (about 30 minutes) which requires full anesthesia. After surgery, the patient will have their head wrapped in bandages to ensure proper shape of the nose while healing and to prevent the bones returning to their previous positions. Swelling may persist for several weeks, but after removal of the bandages most patients will see a huge improvement. To see actual before and after footage of rhinoplasty reductions watch Dr. 90210 as they usually have one on every show. Reduction rhinoplasties are one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures performed in the U.S.
We all want a perfect smile and know that it can definitely help land that big sale or contract or even get that pay raise or new job. But, except for a very few, most of us are not born with perfect or even anywhere near close to perfect teeth. Most of us have some crooked teeth, a little discoloration, a chip or two, maybe a gap or even a missing tooth. Basically, 90% or more of us could really use a complete dental makeover and it is so expensive and so outrageous a concept that it really never crosses our mind as it is disregarded as an impossibility. That is now changing as dental porcelain veneers are quickly becoming cheaper and a great, quick alternative with massive life altering results. It used to be that for people with crooked and bad teeth they either had to have extensive dental surgery, braces and orthodontics (which will not help as much in adults as it does in youth), or resort to going through life without smiling or hiding their teeth and having a much lower self esteem. Dental surgery, braces and orthodontics are quite expensive and much of it is not covered under insurance plans. For less money, one can now have thin porcelain veneers applied to their teeth and this can instantly correct misaligned and crooked teeth. It can also whiten the frontal 16 to 20 teeth (what is usually treated) and make them look like a stars mouth with a perfect or near perfect smile. Basically what a dentist or oral surgeon will do for cosmetic porcelain veneers is they will first do a thorough and deep cleaning of your teeth. After this they will use a grinding or abrasion tool and effectively remove about 1 to 2 mm of surface area on your teeth which are to receive the veneers (the back teeth will not usually be veneered as no one can see them when you talk or smile). After this, and not before, they will make impressions of your teeth. There are several different methods and kits by different manufacturers used to do this but the results are the same. These impressions will be used to make the veneers. The reason for the grinding down of the surface of the teeth is to provide a better bonding surface and to provide room for correction of crooked or misaligned teeth. The dentist or oral surgeon does not make the actual veneers. They are outsourced to medical companies that specifically specialize in dental veneers. It is quite interesting to note that the porcelain dental veneers are actually quite fragile until installed and properly bonded or cemented to the teeth. Then they are very strong and are pretty much as strong or even stronger than your original teeth. It is far less often that a dental veneer gets broken or chipped than as with real teeth. So, once you have them installed you can pretty much enjoy your new smile and look without a whole lot of worries.
Many teenagers are all too aware of what Acne is, just incase you have forgotten, or just blocked the whole experience out of your memory, acne is an inflamed skin condition. It is so damaging for the lives of teenagers because it appears as hundreds of spots on their face, and also on upper body parts. This condition does not only affect teenagers however. People think that the excess secretion of oils by the skin glands causes acne, which is actually an inflammation of the sebaceous glands and the follicles of the hair. Though almost everyone experiences some form of acne during some time of their life, acne varies in form, appearance and severity from person to person. As we have already mentioned acne is caused by the excess secretion of oil. The hormone androgen is responsible for the amount of oil secreted by our body tissues, therefore the underlying reason for acne could be an excess of androgen. Acne is categorized into different types, Juvenile Acne, Acne Vulgarias, Chronic Acne, Pickers Acne, Cosmetic and fringe Acne, Body Acne and Back Acne. Acne is not particularly threatening, it is just a skin disorder that normally clears up all by itself. Therefore it does not usually require any costly medical treatments. Most outbreaks of mild acne can be treated successfully by applying some remedies in the comfort of your own home: First you need a good Acne Cleanser, Milk of Magnesia is one such product that is available on the market. This is one of the best known cleansers that helps clear up excess oil, hopefully resolving your acne problem. The solution should be applied to the affected area, and left for around 10 minutes, then it should be rinsed off with warm water. This procedure removes any excess oil from your skin and also unclogs the pores of your skin, normally relieving most forms of mild acne. Then you should look at removing blackheads, blackheads and acne go hand in hand with one another. Removal of these black heads is a necessary step in the treatment of Acne and for this applying a product like Epsom salt could be considered. A teaspoon of Epsom salt is dissolved in some warm water, this makes a solution which should be amply applied to the affected areas using cotton wool. These solutions help in the easy removal of blackheads. Lastly you should look at preventing any infections. Acne becomes inflamed, and very sensitive to the touch. It is very important to consider the inflammation, sensitivity and tenderness of the affected areas when treating acne at home. For this add 2 to 3 drops of Tr. of Benzion in a cup of cold water, this solution should then be applied to the affected area and rinsed off with cold water. This is a well known antibacterial solution and so this effectively prevents and cures any minor infections in the affected areas. If your form of acne is serious then it is best to go to visit your doctor to get it sorted out. If you ever experience any discomfort when using any of these home remedies then it is important to stop using them and consult your doctor.
