How do you children birthday ... and still remain sane? Relax, do not panic and keep it as simple as possible is the answer. Kids do not care if the room was cleaned and vacuumed. Think about it for a moment, Kid's will make the tidiest of the room to look like a disaster zone within minutes of shooting up. They do not care if the match table napkins or what time it is ... all they want to do is have fun, play games and eat a lot of good things! So what is the best way to ensure that your child's birthday party is one to remember? (at least until the next party invitation arrives!) First, take some time to reflect on the party theme. Will it be an outing to the local burger house, a trip to an amusement park or you have a theme party at home. With enough planning, you will not be losing any sleep worrying about the game. Make a list that is coming to the party? The general rule is to invite the largest number of customers that are comfortable for restoration. Ask the birthday child what they would do. Do not be tempted to pressure them with the type of party you want ... it is their special day after all! Once you have decided on a theme, then the party activities to keep children happy become a priority. Many traditional games can adapt to any party theme. If the party is at local restaurant, and go along to speak to the director to approve the menu and leave the rest for them. An exit amusement park or zoo May need more of planning, transport being one need consideration. Many of these sites are part of the facilities available so all you need to provide children and are a credit card to pay the bill. If the party is to stay at home, then selecting a theme can be fun. Whether Pirates, Finding Nemo or Dora the Explorer ... This is your chance imagination! With so many character theme of the properties available, the choice is endless. If you plan to take part in the open air, this would be a good idea to have at least one room inside your house decorated in case of rain. Try to limit the part of the pre-party designated areas (if possible) if you are able to relax and enjoy the party without worrying about damage is done. Ok, it is now time to prepare for the feast! You have decided on the theme and the number of visitors will be invited ... Now, preparations and the fun begin! Remember to keep your birthday child involved whenever possible. Get them to propose ideas of game, and then choose the decorations and foodstuffs. Feeling relaxed? Hope, because organizing a birthday child must be for everyone! Allocate a budget for the party and decide if you hire a professional show or get help from friends and neighbors? Do not be afraid to ask a friend to help clean the dishes empty, run a game or two, and even take part photos. Setting a date for the celebration. Two or three hours should be a lot of time. If children are under 5 years and an hour and a half should be enough. A great idea to hold a small party in the morning, young people tend to become somewhat "eccentric" when they get tired! Plan your party games in 15-20 minute intervals. If you find children are happy to play a particular game let them exercise ... Why spoil their fun? On the other hand, more business plan that you think you'll ever need. Some games to be hosted in May with a "grunt" and May and you have to play another game sooner than expected. Send your birthday invitations 2 to 3 weeks in advance of the date of the game, then to follow up phone calls after confirmation about a week. People tend to be very busy today and a small invitation can get easily forgotten, usually under a mountain of junk-mail! Do not spend more time or energy than necessary on things that are not really important. When organizing the party snacks keep food pure and simple. Remember that children like to eat with your fingers and your party day could be a great day to let them do that! Undecorated Buy your cake baker and decorate your own, make a fantastic party theme cake ... or get the bakers to make a completely finished theme birthday cake! Finally, imagine that the big day has come, and your first guest arrives at your child's birthday. Keep calm, keep a good sense of humor and enjoy the party valuable time with your guests. Above all, keep the party flowing and let the children rhythm. You look back afterwards, when flicking through your fabulous part of the picture, with the immortal words ... "It is well worth it"

Water for Elephants: A Novel As a young man, Jacob Jankowski was tossed by fate onto a rickety train that was home to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. It was the early part of the great Depression, and for Jacob, now ninety, the circus world he remembers was both his salvation and a living hell. A veterinary student just shy of a degree, he was put in charge of caring for the circus menagerie. It was there that he met Marlena, the beautiful equestrian star married to August, the charismatic but twisted animal trainer. And he met Rosie, an untrainable elephant who was the great gray hope for this third-rate traveling show. The bond that grew among this unlikely trio was one of love and trust, and, ultimately, it was their only hope for survival. Jacob Jankowski says: "I am ninety. Or ninety-three. One or the other." At the beginning of Water for Elephants, he is living out his days in a nursing home, hating every second of it. His life wasn't always like this, however, because Jacob ran away and joined the circus when he was twenty-one. It wasn't a romantic, carefree decision, to be sure. His parents were killed in an auto accident one week before he was to sit for his veterinary medicine exams at Cornell. He buried his parents, learned that they left him nothing because they had mortgaged everything to pay his tuition, returned to school, went to the exams, and didn't write a single word. He walked out without completing the test and wound up on a circus train. The circus he joins, in Depression-era America, is second-rate at best. With Ringling Brothers as the standard, Benzini Brothers is far down the scale and pale by comparison. Water for Elephants is the story of Jacob's life with this circus. Sara Gruen spares no detail in chronicling the squalid, filthy, brutish circumstances in which he finds himself. The animals are mangy, underfed or fed rotten food, and abused. Jacob, once it becomes known that he has veterinary skills, is put in charge of the "menagerie" and all its ills. Uncle Al, the circus impresario, is a self-serving, venal creep who slaps people around because he can. August, the animal trainer, is a certified paranoid schizophrenic whose occasional flights into madness and brutality often have Jacob as their object. Jacob is the only person in the book who has a handle on a moral compass and as his reward he spends most of the novel beaten, broken, concussed, bleeding, swollen and hungover. He is the self-appointed Protector of the Downtrodden, and... he falls in love with Marlena, crazy August's wife. Not his best idea.
Fooled by Randomness: The Hidden Role of Chance in Life and in the Markets “[Taleb is] Wall Street’s principal dissident. . . . [Fooled By Randomness] is to conventional Wall Street wisdom approximately what Martin Luther’s ninety-nine theses were to the Catholic Church.” If the prescriptions for getting rich that are outlined in books such as The Millionaire Next Door and Rich Dad Poor Dad are successful enough to make the books bestsellers, then one must ask, Why aren't there more millionaires? In Fooled by Randomness, Nassim Nicholas Taleb, a professional trader and mathematics professor, examines what randomness means in business and in life and why human beings are so prone to mistake dumb luck for consummate skill. This eccentric and highly personal exploration of the nature of randomness meanders from the court of Croesus and trading rooms in New York and London to Russian roulette, Monte Carlo engines, and the philosophy of Karl Popper. Part of what makes this book so good is Taleb's ability to make seemingly arcane mathematical concepts (at least to this reviewer) entirely relevant in evaluating and understanding everything from the stock market to the success of those millionaires cited in the aforementioned bestsellers. Here's an articulate, wise, and humorous meditation on the nature of success and failure that anyone who wants a little more of the former would do well to consider. Highly recommended. --Harry C. Edwards
