Discount Auto Insurance - Keep Your Hard-Earned Money

Finding discount auto insurance is so easy when you do an online search. There are many insurance companies that do offer this option for many customers who want to search through several different companies to get the best possible quotes. With many of these sites, all you have to do is select the type of discount auto insurance you need, fill in a short form and receive quotes from as many as six different online insurance companies.

An online automobile insurance quote saves you time and money. You no longer have to spend time using the telephone trying to get discount auto insurance or take time off from work to visit each of the automobile insurance company offices. You can do an online search at any time of the day or night and receive an instant quote in your inbox. Depending on the site, you may have to wait up to 24 hours for the quote or longer if you submit the quote request on a weekend.

When you look for discount auto insurance there are many types of discounts that you can avail yourself of. For example, many of the online automobile insurance quotes provide a discount if you are over the age of 50. Discount auto insurance is readily available if you have not had an accident in the last six years and have not had any traffic violations.

You do need to be truthful when answering the questions for an online automobile insurance quote. If you are switching to another auto insurance company, even though you submit the information online, the discount auto insurance quote you get won't come into effect until you also submit supporting documents, such as a driving record and a record from your former auto insurance. If you haven't been truthful, it could result in your automobile insurance being cancelled or having to pay a higher rate.

Another thing you have to be careful about when searching for an online automobile insurance quote is that the site is secure. You wouldn't want your information to become public information just because you are looking to save money on discount auto insurance. This could be a lot more costly than the insurance if someone steals your identity.

Discount auto insurance is around, but not easy to find. And it's not available to everyone.

With a rise in those looking to venture out on their own in the business world, health insurance for self-employed workers is a priority. At first glance, obtaining health insurance for self-employed individuals may seem difficult and quite overwhelming. However, with research and education, finding the right policy can be done with ease.

Self-employed insurance is for those who own a private business, or for freelancers such as writers, designers, artists, etc., who work on their own. Before purchasing a plan, it is advisable to learn as much about the specific policy, paying particular attention to the needs of the self-employed worker. Examine several quotes before actually purchasing the insurance. It is essential to know what the policy will cover, and what it won't. It is recommended not to buy policies that exclude pre-existing conditions, for some plans have ongoing care for chronic diseases and conditions.

Although most self-employed health insurance plans provide basic medical coverage, every person requires something different when it comes to their health. A few essential things covered are: physical exams, hospital and emergency care, prescription medication, vision and dental care. Some self-employment health insurance plans can also offer some extra benefits. These may include: drug and alcohol abuse counseling, physical therapy, hospice care, and alternative health practices such as acupuncture.

While individual insurance usually is more expensive to obtain, there are ways to cut down on the cost. One way, is to pay your premium annually. By doing this, there is no service fees, and discounts may also be available. Another option is transferring to a higher deductible. A larger deductible equals a considerable reduction in premiums. And a third option? Think about enrolling in a group plan. Look into joining a small-business association or trade group. However, make sure that the current plan fits your own needs before becoming a part of the existing group.

If you're self employed, you may think of health insurance as a luxury. When you're barely making ends meet, paying several hundred dollars a month for something you may not need isn't a priority. Or maybe you can't find a health insurance company to insure you because of a pre-existing condition. If you have no health insurance, you're banking on the hope that you won't get sick. But if you do, your business suffers.

If you can't get individual health insurance, or if the premiums are out of reach for an individual policy, there are a number of ways to get cheap and discount health insurance and health care.

Look Into State Subsidized Programs

Many states offer discount premiums for low income families and self employed business owners. Others have set up 'risk pools' that make your health care costs cheaper by spreading the risk throughout a 'pool' of people much like employers do with group plans.

Check with your state Health and Human Services office to see what health insurance discounts may be available to you based on your income. In most states, the income eligibility standards are quite high, especially in states that offer assistance for premiums with private health plans. You can get a substantial discount on family plans by joining a state health insurance plan.

Join a Discount Health Care Plan

Many organizations have worked out special discount rates with health insurance companies for their members. You may find discounts on health care and health insurance through your Chamber of Commerce, Small Businessmen's Association, even AAA auto clubs or fraternal organizations.

Another option is a discount medical club. For a monthly fee - usually about $30, you're eligible for discounts of up to 25% off regular costs for office visits, medical supplies and prescriptions as long as you use participating member vendors. Check online to find a discount medical club that has members near you.

Itemize Your Taxes

As of 2003, if you itemize your taxes, you can deduct 100% of your health insurance cost for the year from your taxes. There are limits and restrictions, so consult your accountant, or check the Internal Revenue Service web site online at www.irs.gov.

Shop Around for the Cheapest Rates

You can insure yourself through an individual fee-for-service health insurance plan for less than $100 a month if you shop around online for the best rates. In many cases, you can get online quotes for as many as 10 different health insurance companies and choose the one that suits you best. You can even apply online and be covered within 24 hours.

Unexpected medical costs can destroy your business. Some creative financing and unusual options for dealing with them can prevent that from happening.

As you probably know all to well, the cost of healthcare and health insurance premiums continue to increase at levels substantially above the general inflation rate. The reasons given for these extraordinary cost increases are numerous and include: technological advancements in the medical field, increased demand for medical services and prescription drugs, the aging of the population, cost shifting caused by the uninsured and governmental reimbursement rates, state and federal mandates, and costs associated with medical related lawsuits.

As individual consumers, we have very little control over some of the factors contributing to the cost of healthcare. However, all of us have control over lifestyle related health insurance claims. A simple formula of eating a balanced diet, getting the appropriate amount of daily exercise, participating in annual physicals and other recommended routine care, limiting alcohol consumption, and eliminating the use of tobacco products will no doubt reduce our personal healthcare costs. In addition to reducing medical costs, the other benefits of following such a formula include more energy, self confidence, less stress, and increased productivity. If you are not doing so already, I encourage you to consider practical ways to promote a healthy lifestyle for you and your family. For example, one of the individual health insurance companies my organization works with has an option that will offset 25% of the annual cost of a health club membership. Simple things such as taking a walk, bike ride, or going swimming promote both a healthy body and mind. If you have a sweet tooth, consider limiting yourself to eating desert once a week. You will enjoy it more and your body will thank you.

Health insurance premiums will continue to increase as long as the cost of healthcare continues to go up. The best way to reduce the overall cost of healthcare is to decrease our need for healthcare. Healthy lifestyle choices and prudent use of the healthcare system are the best and easiest ways to get a handle on our healthcare expenditures. Perhaps the greatest benefit of a healthy lifestyle is our ability to enjoy our precious time here on earth to the fullest.
