10 SEO Tips for WordPress
By: SEO Portal

WordPress is getting more popular by the day. It enables people to set up a blog, and even a complete website within minutes. With all the great free plugins and designs out there it is really an easy to use and complete blogging solution.

I get asked for specific SEO tips for WordPress very often. Basically all the ‘usual’ SEO stuff is also applicable for WordPress. But besides that, there are a few tips for WordPress I’d like to share with you. Here it goes:

1. Use PermalinksBe sure to use Permalinks on your blog.By default WordPress uses web URLs which have question marks and lots of numbers in them. These links are hard to spider for search engines, and therefor your postings aren’t indexed as fast and as good as you want to.WordPress offers you the ability however, to create a custom URL structure for your permalinks and archives. You can find this option in your Admin panel. Choose ‘Options’ in the menu and there ‘Permalinks’.This brings us immidiately to Tip 2:

2. Place your titles up front in your URLsIn the Permalinks section you can choose for the ‘Date and name based’ option. This will place the year, month, day and post title in your URL.For SEO purposes it’s better to have your post title up front. So instead you should choose for the ‘Custom’ option and put in something like:/%postname%/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/
This will give you an URL like this:http://www.seo-portal.com/section-targeting-for-AdSense/2006/07/06/

3. TagsTags are a great SEO addition to your blog. They enable search engines to crawl your website more easily and in addition to that, create specific pages for your tags/keywords.You can install the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin on your WordPress blog. Get the plugin here: http://www.neato.co.nz/ultimate-tag-warrior/

4. Page TitlesMake sure you set good titles on your pages. We discussed putting the post title up front in your URL. You should do the same thing for your Titles. You can do this by changing the title tag in your header.php (located in wp-content/themes/your theme/)You can use the following code in order to get your post title in front, followed by your blog name:

title : /title

5. Choose your Post Titles carefullyYour Post Titles should be as clear as possible. Don’t stuff your titles with keywords you are targeting with your whole blog.Choose your keywords carefully per posting, and get those words in your Post Title.

6. AutolinksCross link to your own posts and pages in your own content. Do this by linking your keywords to the relevant postings. To facilitate this work, you can install the SH-Autolink plugin.

7. Related PostsPut links to related posts under your postings. This helps search engines crawling your site and indexing all your postings. You can get a plugin for this here: http://www.w-a-s-a-b-i.com/archives/2006/02/02/wordpress-related-entries-20/

8. Ping ServicesEverytime you post or edit a posting or page, your WordPress blog can notify lots of sites that you updated your blog.Be sure to use this feature! You can set up this feature in Options >> Writing. You can find a list of sites to ping on the WordPress site:http://codex.wordpress.org/Update_Services

9. Google SitemapsGoogle has a tool for webmasters called Google Sitemaps. This will help Google index your website, and let’s you tell Google which pagesare most important. If you make use of this feature, you will be able to see for what searches your site was shown in the results. This helps you optimizing your appearance in Google. You can use this plugin to automatically create a sitemap for your WordPress blog:http://www.arnebrachhold.de/2005/06/05/google-sitemaps-generator-v2-final

10. CategoriesCategories help you organize your content. If you have the permalinks turned on, the category names will apear in your URL.This is why it is also very important to name your categories carefully; Try to use keywords to name your categories and don’t be afraid to make a load.WordPress enables you to make use of subcategories and sub-subcategories etc. etc. This way you can narrow down your focus on certain keyword phrases.Consider the following example:You have a website about selling photocamera’s. You could organize your articles/postings like this:fotocamera’s >> Digital camera’s >> SLR >> NikonIf a user would be searching for “digital SLR camera nikon” the deepest nested category would have a good optimized URL for this search as the URL would be something like thiswww.yoursite.com/fotocameras/digital-cameras/SLR/nikon/

You can make use of the King Categories Widget to organize your categories:http://www.blog.mediaprojekte.de/cms-systeme/wordpress/wordpress-widget-king-categories/

Noida Real Estate: Luck of the Draw

A new residential scheme for lower and middle income groups has been introduced by the Greater Noida Authority providing 2,256 constructed houses in four different categories, and covering an area of 70, 90, 120 and 250-sq. m. that will be priced at Rs. 12.33-lakh to Rs. 36.48-lakh.

Launched through a lucky draw by the Greater Noida Authority, the allottees lucky enough to win the draw, will be permitted to make additions according to the approved building plan, copies of which are available with Greater Noida’s Planning Department, while constructions that do not conform to it, will need to be approved.

While, a 70-sq. m. house in this housing complex will cost Rs. 12.33-lakh, houses measuring 90, 120 and 250-sq. m. are priced at Rs. 14.96, 20.14 and 36.48-lakh respectively. The 250 and 120-sq. m. houses will come with two bedrooms, a drawing, dining, kitchen and bathroom, whereas, those measuring 90 and 70-sq. m. will consist of one bedroom, a drawing room, kitchen and a bathroom.

Housed in Greater Noida’s new sector, Omicron near the village Mathurapur and Ghori Bachhera, the housing complex will have a swimming pool, park, community centre, post office, hospital, shopping complex and a parking space.

This time round, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority has followed a different initiative from its earlier practice of inviting tenders on a two bid system for Group Housing Societies in 300-acres for different sectors.

This scheme of the Greater Noida authority provided the developers with an opportunity to participate in the development of a smartly slick city, where at all stages of development, supply precedes demand.

Holding many attractions for buyers and end-users in the form of a constant supply of drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, green areas, proposed metro, airport and world’s fourth night safari, this Greater Noida residential scheme saw many participating in the draw.

Further, the permissible area for plots, commercial and commercial facilities is said to be 65% of the total area as per population norms permitted in the master plan of 2021, with the rest to be according to building regulations.

There will also be provision in this housing complex for other facilities, such as, nursery school, senior secondary school, nursing home, convenience shopping, commercial sector, milk booth, auto-taxi stand, secondary shopping and community centre, provided by the developers, while the green belt will be developed according to the authority’s zonal plan.

More often than not, stress is a contributory factor to high blood pressure. When we feel relaxed, so is everything actually in our body, including our blood vessels. As we have seen, it's the constriction and restriction of the blood vessels which causes high blood pressure so anything which causes these to dilate or relax is beneficial.

Here are some alternative ways to treat high blood pressure using herbs, aromatherapy and yoga.

Herbs
Lemon Balm - (melissa officinalis)
This is a green leafy herb, similar in appearance to mint and almost as easy to grow. The herb is so-called because it's leaves have a lemony scent. It is known for it's calming and relaxing effects, and has a strengthening effect on the muscles.
It was introduced to Britain in 4th C by the Romans and is also good for digestion, abdominal cramps, stress and nerves. The essential oil is good as an insect repellent but, as with all essential oils, should never be taken internally.
Lemon balm leaves are wonderful in salads or used as marinade for chicken and fish.
This herb should not be used by pregnant women because it relaxes the cervical muscles.

Stinging Nettles
Stinging nettles have been useful in the treatment of arthritis and are full of vitamin C. They stimulate and cleanse the body and improve heart function.
Believe it or not, they actually make good tea. Pick the top fresh shoots from the plant and follow the instructions on the left to make herbal tea.

Hawthorne
Hawthorne relaxes muscles, stimulates heart metabolism and strengthens heart contractions. It also causes the blood vessels to dilate and improves blood supply to the heart. Hawthorne can be found in English hedgerows and was believed to have magical properties in pagan times. It is usually the berries that are used medicinally.
You should never take Hawthorne without the advice of your GP AND a herbalist. To find a herbalist look at the useful contact listing at the bottom of this article.

Other Useful Herbs
Fennel, black pepper, ginger, oregano, basil, tarragon and hyssop all contain compounds which can help to lower blood pressure. Fennel and ginger also make delicious herbal teas and combine well with lemon balm.

Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy oils are easy and safe alternatives if they are used correctly. They should never be taken internally or applied neat on the skin, except in the case of lavender and tea tree oil. You can either burn 5-8 drops in an oil burner or make your own massage oil by diluting 5-10 drops in 10ml of almond oil.
Choose oils that have relaxing and calming properties. Try rose, ylang ylang, marjoram, lavender, cypress, chamomille, clary sage and rosewood.

Yoga
Yoga can also help to reduce high blood pressure because it stretches, elongates and massages the blood vessels which improves circulation and encourages the blood vessels to remain soft. Stress can also increase blood pressure and yoga, with it's relaxing principles can help combat that. It is worth noting that yoga is also a weight bearing exercises because some of the poses require you to hold up your own body weight. Weight bearing exercise can help to prevent osteoporosis, a disease which affects one third of women and two thirds of men over the age of 50.
Remember that all these are only a few from the natural ways to lower blood pressure. Many other useful information will be published in further articles regarding lowering blood pressure using a natural treatment.
