First off, there are NO set rules as far as flirting goes. The basis of flirting and breaking the ice is that it is a contact between two VERY UNIQUE individuals. In this case, you and a particular girl. Each of you is a VERY different person from the "average girl" and the "average guy". Some girls may like roses and romance. But maybe this girl is a tomboy and would think those things very dumb. Some girls may like poetry. But other girls may think that is "old fashioned and boring" and would rather have you just hang out with her.

So the most important key to flirting and breaking the ice is to know as much as possible about this girl before you just barrel up to her. What type of music does she like? What are her hobbies? Watch what kind of clothes she wears. Does she wear long, flowing skirts and peasant blouses? Does she wear jeans and hiking boots? Is she very outgoing, always talking with lots of people? Is she very shy, usually quiet and by herself? All of these things will help you decide how to approach her.

Let's say you spend a few weeks getting to know what she's about and are ready to initiate contact. The key in this is Slow and Steady. You don't want to leap at her - this would make any human nervous. You want her to think of you as a normal, good part of her life. So start out by making the transition from "stranger" to "that guy I see around". Do that by following some of the Breaking the Ice tips and by smiling or saying "hi" when you pass her in the halls. Don't go into long conversations, just keep up that tap - tap - tap reminder that you are there and friendly.

OK, after a week or two of this, she knows and expects that "hi" from you when she sees you. It's not a scary thing, it's a nice thing. People like to be thought of and remembered. Now you move on to slightly longer conversations. This is where the "flirt behavior" that many think of comes into play. During these longer conversations, you want her to know that you enjoy talking to her, that you are interested in what she has to say. People LIKE to be liked, they like to feel like what they say is important. So flirting is in essence the way in which you give her that feedback - that what she says matters, what you like what she is all about. Try some Flirting Techniques and invent your own too. It's about making her feel special, about looking in her eyes when she talks so she knows you're listening. About not acting bored. About not watching when other girls walk by.

One of the keys to flirting is touch. Touch is one of our most important senses, and the idea of "personal space" is drilled into each one of us as a child. We're all taught to keep strangers away. So to let someone touch you is a very intimate thing. As you flirt with this girl, find small ways to touch her - maybe pat her on the shoulder, or give her a brief hug goodbye. Invite her to thumb wrestle. Those small touches can be a very strong link between you two.

google-media-server Google Media Center is a free Windows-only software that lets you stream photos, videos and music from the computer on to your TV.

This requires a Universal Plug and Play compatible device like an Xbox or Playstation gaming console, set-top box or a photo frame like the Kodak EasyShare.

Google Media Server will auto-discover any UPnP device that’s connected to your computer. You can also pick content (like desktop folders, Picasa photo galleries, etc) that should become available to that device.

Here’s a screenshot of Google Media Center admin panel that is available as a Google Desktop gadget. (You therefore need Google Desktop to install Google Media Server.)

convert pdf swf flash Like Scibd and SlideShare, PDFMeNot is an online PDF to Flash converter that will instantly convert any Adobe PDF document into a Macromedia Flash (SWF) movie while preserving the original layout, image graphics and formatting.

The PDF to SWF converter can very useful when you have to embed PDF files in web pages for inline viewing or you want to read PDF files on a computer that has no Acrobat Reader.

Here’s how to create Flash movies from PDF documents:

1. Go to PDFMeNot.com (Username: stateless Password: systems) and type the URL of the PDF file - you can use this PDF link as an example. Alternatively upload a PDF from the local hard drive.

2. In your Firefox menu bar, click Tools -> Page Info -> Media. Select the object that has an SWF extension (e.g. pdfmenot.com/store/f6a29535da98cd1.swf)  and save it to your disk. That’s the SWF file created from your PDF document. For IE, here’s the trick to save Flash locally.

Bloggers can embed the following JS code in their web templates and PDF links will open in Flash SWF format via PDFMeNot.

<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://pdfmenot.com/convert.js”></script>

While PDFMeNot is an extremely convenient option for quickly viewing PDF files in the browser without loading Adobe Reader, the downside is that the generated SWF objects contains Zoom but no Print and Search function. They are all supported in Macromedia Flash Paper format used by Scribd. Thanks Marshall.

video spin free movie editor Video Spin (based on Pinnacle Studio) is a free video editing software for Windows that lets you make movies with no learning curve.

You simply drag-n-drop your video clips, digital photographs and music files onto the VideoSpin timeline, add a few 2D transitions, sound effect and your movie is ready.

With Video Spin, you can also create scrolling titles for your videos using the powerful title editor - a privilege available only in expensive video editing programs like Adobe Premiere. (see screenshot gallery below)

And once you are done editing the video, it can directly upload the clip to online video sharing sites  like Yahoo! Videos or YouTube. Another surprise - Video Spin can even output movies directly in Flash Video (flv) format.

Windows Movie Maker from Microsoft almost rules the market for free video editors but after playing with with Video Spin for some time, I consider this a more elegant solution than Movie Maker. (Related: "The Best Online Video Editors")

Other than creating home videos, here are some alternate uses of Video Spin:

1. For editing Screencast Videos when you are using a basic screencasting software.

2. For converting between video formats - Video Spin supports AVI, WMV, FLV, MP4.

3. For extracting MP3 songs from Music Video - Video Spin can save any video file as an MP3 audio file.

4. For producing video podcasts (vlogs), stop motion animations and time lapse movies.

The software can directly import photographs from external media devices like the Digital Camera, iPod or the USB drive but the video footage cannot be , the files transfer the files from the camcorder to the hard drive. You will also need an external program to burn videos to DVD.

VideoSpin is a freeware video editor with no limits. The download is ~150 MB and the software works only on XP with SP2 or Windows Vista.

Pinnacle make money from VideoSpin by selling additional codecs that you will need for creating videos in MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 format. But if you are satisfied with creating or editing AVI and Windows Media files, you need not purchase these codecs.
