Appearance Is Everything While Selling On eBay

Personally, I wish that I could worry about things other than money. Of course, it does take money to make a better living. These days the internet, and eBay in particular, are offering many things you can do from your home out along the digital world. When you sell on eBay, there are literally thousands of ways to make money. Just like anything that is worth doing, it takes a little work and dedication, we know that, here are some strategies to keep you on the path to making money, particularly on eBay.

What are the basics of selling on eBay and what does it mean that "appearance is everything?"

Take time to create and organize a professional looking business on eBay. The vast majority of buyers online still think the internet is a scary place, so make them feel at ease. If you try and do everything half way and cheap, it will look that way. You can't look like a "fly by night operation" and make money on eBay. Take real effort to build your brand. Make a look and feel that your customers can relate to and one that creates a sense of confidence. In order to make money on eBay, customers have to trust you.

Invest in any type of automation early and wherever you can. eBay's Selling Manager or Selling Manager Pro are an absolute must. Especially if you decide, like I did, to sell digital goods on eBay. Automation saves you time and make your operation appear and function, more like a real professional business. Remember, appearance is everything.

Something very important to remember is that when you make some money, don't rush out and spend it. Always reinvest in your business and keep reinvesting in your business. I advise you to open up a separate business checking account. Use this to create a brand new pay pal account. That way you can still use your personal pay pal account for whatever you like. This also makes paper work for things like taxes easier.

Remember that each and every listing you have on eBay is a reflection of you and your business. Appearance is everything. All of your listings should look professional and have a very well researched, keyword-rich headline, good photos and item descriptions that are accurate, complete and that sell. Ensure that all of your listings comply fully with all eBay policies.

Make sure that every listing has your sales, payment, and shipping and return policies. Don't word them like a jerk. Make sure that they are both friendly and yet support your business model. eBay is a community built on trust. Appearance is everything.

Build and maintain the highest feedback as possible. On eBay, feedback is the number one way that buyers gain your trust. You can have the greatest products, auction listings, and pictures --but if you have a lousy feedback score, your business will fail on eBay.

Do the best you can to protect your feedback by giving the best service. Treat every customer as you would like to be treated and you will always have a high score. If you do end up becoming an eBay seller who deals with large amounts of customers, you will occasionally receive some negative feedback comments out of no real fault of your own. Deal with this as a professional and realize that you can not make everyone happy all of the time. One negative feedback comment out of 400 won't kill your business.

eBay is a large marketplace, but it is also one of the most competitive marketplaces. Keep tabs on your competition as much as possible --and be prepared to react to changes in the eBay marketplace. What is a great seller one month, might be a complete dud the next. Once every week or two you should spend a few hours doing this type of research.

Try new things. Experiment with new tools and software when you find something that will help your business. Try out different listing and pricing strategies, new products and sales strategies. Try out some of the premium listing features or things like fixed price auctions. Keep track of what does best and repeat that success over and over again.

Don't be afraid to try and sell on eBay. It can be a great hobby or part time income. If you are like me, you can make 100% of your income online and most of it be based on eBay sales.

Many people nowadays are scrambling to start their online business because of the massive potential that exists for entrepreneurs. Starting an Ebay business is hands down the easiest and fastest way to start your very own online business.

There are no guarantees that your Ebay business will be a success but when compared to other online business models, the barriers to entry are very small and the potential for profit is huge. But before you rush out to start your Ebay business, here are a couple of tips to follow that will increase your chances of success.

The first thing you must do before you start your Ebay business is to decide on what exactly it is that you are going to sell. You can sell just about anything in the world on Ebay but you have to perform some market research to determine what market you should enter. The trick is to find markets with lots of demand and little competition.

A good way to do this is by using Ebay's market research tool which only costs about $10 per month to use. With the market research tool you will want to examine the Sell Thru Rate (STR), the total number of sales in the last 30 days, and the average price per item.

If the STR of a given market is above 50% and the total number of 30 days sales is greater than 1,000, then the market will be probably be worth entering. The STR is determined by looking at the total number of successful auctions (auctions that ended with a sale) and dividing by the total number of auctions for that period.

Once you have decided to enter a market you can use the average price per item to determine how much you need to buy each item for. To determine your cost per item simply deduct your desired profit margin from the average price.

By this point you have determined a market to enter and have also established a price and acquisition cost per unit. Now you will need to turn your attention to locating a reputable wholesaler who can provide you with products at or below your average cost per unit. In many cases you can actually find wholesalers right on Ebay.

Most of the subcategories contain listings for wholesalers who sell wholesale merchandise in that same category. For more specialized products you can use the paid service at worldwidewebbrands.com to locate reputable dropshippers and wholesalers.

The biggest mistake you can make is to get emotionally attached to a product offering before you do market research. Taking a couple of hours to do market research can show exactly what you need to be selling. If you can find items to sell on Ebay you can just as easily locate a wholesaler and start reaping huge profits. Whatever you do, don't fall into the trap of selling something just because you happen to like it.
