Many people have a vision of how great it would feel to be able to work from the comfort of home, be their own boss and earn enough income for their happiness and well-being. Admittedly, the lifestyle is truly great! But is it really for YOU? How do you know?

It usually comes down to this. How badly do you want change? Are you willing to do whatever it takes? Will you commit to making it happen? Do you already commit to making things happen that you want? ...Or do you just talk about it. Do you have a history of action...of getting things done...of achieving results?

Ask yourself these questions if you're considering starting your own business from home. If you don't say yes to most of these questions, you may find some challenges with self-employment. If you do say yes, find your passion and definitely GET GOING!

1. Are you Self-Motivated?

This is BIG. If you're not sure of the answer to this question, ask yourself what do you do at work when the boss is not around? Is your work ethic the same when you have no one looking over your shoulder? Do you have the attitude that you want to do your personal best, no matter what you're doing?

2. Are you Open Minded?

Ultra-skeptical people generally are not very prosperous. Have you noticed this? They tend to spend too much time thinking things won't or can't work instead of thinking about how they can. Then they get hung up on the little things. Be open to possibilities and you'll find more possibilities and opportunities will open to you.

3. Do you enjoy interaction with people?

Business success involves creating great connections with people, whatever the industry. If you love meeting new people, you are likely great at connecting with them. If you are less outgoing, you can learn new skills to become better.

4. Are you Focused?

Do you complete tasks you start or do you often leave things unfinished? Developing the focus to see something through to completion is often a matter of developing consistent habits. It can be learned and developed.

5. What did you do to earn money (from your own efforts) before you graduated from high school?

True entrepreneurs generally start young. They begin searching for creative ways to make money for themselves as soon as they are old enough to understand that money drives the world!

6. Are you COACHABLE?

Do you have a teachable spirit? Some of the most poisonous words are, "I know". Life is to learn every single day! Business success requires this open mindset to learn from others who have achieved what you are looking to achieve. Do what they do!

7. Do you have the ability to work through your fears?

We all have fears....every single one of us. Successful people act in spite of their fears. Unsuccessful people tend to let their fears stop them from moving forward. Often people won't try something new, thinking, "What if it doesn't work?" Instead, ask, "What if it DOES?"

8. Do you have the burning desire to be in charge of your own life?

If this desire is very strong, you have a great chance of achieving business success!

Self-Employment is not for everyone. But, if you have the desire within you but haven't taken any actions out of fear, then work to educate yourself! Read! Attend seminars. There is a tremendous amount of personal development in the marketplace today. Personal development will assist you to work through those fears.

I thought about starting my own business for many years before I found the courage to take the steps. Now, I sure wish I had started sooner! It has changed the quality of my life completely!
