Hi Readers: Today's Cajun word of the day is "envie". To have an "envie" is to desire or to crave something. Used in a sentence, one would say I have an "envie" for some gumbo, or I've got the "envie" for some of mama's jambalaya. It is a simple word with a very compelling connotation. When one uses the word "envie" in a sentence, a true cajun will understand that you have an intense desire for something you probably haven't had in a while. Especially when used to describe the desire for food, use the word "envie" when ordering from a local cajun restaurant and watch how fast your waitress gets your order in for you. When you say you've got an "envie" to someone from Louisiana, it's like saying, "I gotta have it!" If there are some cajun words or phrases you've heard that you'd like explained, just put a message up on this site and we'll get you some answers. In the meantime, we hope you get the "envie" to come down and see us here in south Louisiana. Come and pass a good time with some creole food and cajun dancing; and while you're here you can wet a line for some of the finest fishing in the world. A Biento...
We are Sportsmans Paradise Television, your portal for the best in Louisiana outdoor programming. What we offer is a selection of several Louisiana programs that capture the essence of what Sportsman's Paradise means. For your viewing pleasure we currently offer clips from Chef KD's Outdoors and More, a program that demonstrates the seamless nature of hunting, fishing, cooking and culture of Louisiana. You'll enjoy great outdoor action with a splash of KD's expertise thrown in, as well as step by step cooking instructions from one of Louisiana's most popular chefs. Also available are seven clips from the pilot episode of Swamp Things, a program where facts quickly fester into fiction. Swamp Things takes us into a world where a people, a culture and their wetlands are woven into an ecological microcosm we call the Swamps. Our hosts Ron Reynolds and Angie Bush will introduce you to indigenous wildlife including wild alligators, nutria and the beautiful Roseatte Spoonbill; along with swamp guide Black Guidry and National Geographic wildlife photographer C.C. Lockwood. The point of bringing these clips to you is to find something that resonates with your soul and to extend a personal invitation to visit us in Sportsman's Paradise. Tourism was a large part of Louisiana's economy pre-Katrina and will be a vital part of rebuilding our state. So please feel free to come down and "pass a good time" with us. It's all about food, family and fun! So thank you for the visit and hope you'll come back soon. We have at least two more programs coming online here by the end of the year. Journeys South and Louisiana Outdoor Adventures from the Sportsmans Channel will be coming online in December so be sure to come back and check out these two awesome programs. Until then, bonne manger et bonnes temps, "good eating and good times!" Chuck Bush,
