The Four Keys to Successful Advertising

Getting the word out about your product or service can be a frustrating process. Spending a lot of money on advertising that doesn't elicit a response can be very disheartening to the beginning internet marketer.

That is why one should always check four major points when building any advertising campaign.

1 - Starting with your ad copy you should rework it until all the points you are trying to make are clearly explained. Get others to review it for possible problems you may not see. The ad is what represents you and so must be very persuasive.

If you are not sure you could write effectively enough then hire a copywriter to create it for you. Of all the elements of your campaign this one would be the one most likely to require investing in to get right.

2 - After you have written and tweaked your ad till it is ready to grab any potential customer, you need to determine where you are going to place the ad. You have to target the subject of your ad to the places where people interested in that subject are going to be looking.

The more focused your target audience is on the type of product or service you are offering the greater the response rate. While a general interest item might appeal to everyone, placing such an ad in a business newsletter would defeat the purpose as the readers would be in business mode while reading it. Popular advertising venues do not always mean the greatest results.

3 - The timing of your ad is also very important. Setting it up to run on the weekend has been shown to gain fewer responses because so many people are in recreation mode then and less likely to buy. The only real exception to this rule is in the retail sector at mortar and brick stores where weekend sales flourish.

Summertime is also a slower period for advertising as so many people have vacations or family concerns to fill their time. However, if a local or national event comes up that relates to your product, jump on it as fast as you can.

4 - Finally you have to remember to keep running your ads frequently. Repetition is the way to having your name or product remembered. Studies have shown that people don't always even notice and respond to any given advertisement until they have seen it between seven and twelve times.

Just like the major product companies like automobiles, carbonated drinks and fast food restaurants you have to keep your name in front of the people. It doesn't matter that you are a world famous product, if your name and advertising doesn't keep reminding people to purchase then sales will fall!

Do not worry that you don't have the budget of a large corporation to advertise with. There are many ways to get exposure on the web without breaking you up.

Traffic exchanges are one good free to low cost form of advertising. Trading ads with other webmasters can increase your potential customer base and can set the stage for joint venture advertising projects as well.

Your Credit Score: 6 Actions You Can Take To Improve Your Contract Terms - Part 2

Copyright ? 2007 Ed Bagley

If any of these three agencies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) could 'legally' lie, cheat and steal they would do it every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

All three agencies were forced to give out a free credit report to consumers annually; they did not do it willingly and never would have done it without being mandated to do so by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Another example is that the top three credit reporting bureaus agreed to $2.5 million in payments (penalties) as part of settlements negotiated by the Federal Trade Commission to resolve charges that they (each and every one) violated provisions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) by failing to maintain a toll-free telephone number at which personnel are accessible to consumers during normal business hours.

In other words, the three top credit reporting agencies mentioned were too cheap to offer the toll-free line and better service on their own, and would not even continue to maintain the toll-free line system they were ordered to implement unless faced with prosecution by the Federal Trade Commission.

Pigs in the barnyard are more ethical, trustworthy and honest than the top three credit reporting bureaus. If it looks like a pig, walks like a pig, acts like a pig and smells like a pig, it is a swine.

These are businesses that either through their sloppy, inattentive reporting or accurate, quality reporting help determine your credit score which determines how much you will pay or not pay to fulfill your monthly mortgage contract.

Be advised that your credit score from each agency will likely vary because, whether recorded correctly or not, some lenders do not report information about borrowers to all three credit bureaus.

Here are 6 things you can do to stay abreast with your credit reports and credit scores:

1) Secure copies of your credit reports and credit scores annually, even if you have to pay to get credit scores from two of the agencies too cheap to give them to you.

2) Dispute errors that you find in the reports. The credit reporting agencies would not care if an error caused you great harm, and they would not (singly or collectively) notify you if they found an error that they knew would hurt your score.

They get paid by businesses for your report. You are nothing to them other than the fact that there would be no credit reporting business without you.

3) Pay off credit card balances as it is one of the factors used to determine your FICO score, which is your total debt relative to your available credit line, called 'credit utilization'.

4) Do not close unused accounts as closing these accounts reduces the amount of credit you have available. Cut up the card and do not use it but keep the account open as it can help your credit score.

5) Do not open new accounts as it could hurt rather than help your credit score even though by doing so you will increase your credit utilization.

6) Pay your bills on time because 35% of your credit score is determined by your credit payment history.

(Note: This is Part 2 of a 3-Part Series.)

Parenting the Strong-Willed Child and Keeping the Upper Hand

If you haven't experienced it for yourself, you've seen its effects. You've seen the haggard, weary-looking faces of countless mothers trudging through the grocery store aisles holding the hands of little ones wearing that triumphant 'I've just got my way, again' smirk.

You've seen grown women brought to tears in the check out line or at the doctor's office by a small, wriggling, screaming body that just won't seem to quit. And while you may feel lucky that you escaped all of that torture, don't congratulate yourself just yet. Your time for dealing with a strong-willed child may be quickly approaching and you will need all of your parenting skills to cope with it.

When talking about strong-willed children, there are two age brackets that pop into mind very quickly: the terrible twos and the always-torturous teenage years. While you may think that these two ages require completely different parenting approaches, they do not. Of course, the language that you use will change, but the basics for parenting strong-willed children stay the same no matter the age.

The key to parenting strong-willed children is consistency. Sounds easy, huh? Well it's not. Children have a way of wearing you down until you just want whatever it is they're doing to stop. Sometimes parents tend to cave or give in to their children just to bring the conflict to an end. This is the worst possible thing that you can do when dealing with a strong-willed child because it just reinforces that their negative behavior evokes a positive outcome.

To show children that their antics are not going to have any effect on your decisions, you must consistently show them that you mean what you say. Don't bend the rules or let punishments slide no matter how tough it gets. While it may be rough in the beginning, the more that your child sees that you will not be swayed the more he or she will listen to you without putting up a fight.

Do not fight with your child. When nerves are strained and tempers flare, it can be very easy to fall into a pattern of fighting with your child. Avoid this at all costs. Always try to remain calm and unruffled, at least in the presence of your child. In order to do this, you will need patience. Don't be afraid to take a break when things get too tough. Walking away from the situation for a few minutes of peace and quiet is often all that is needed to strengthen your resolve.

In addition to following these parenting tips yourself, be sure to bring the co-parent and grandparents in on the plan. If everyone in the strong-willed child's life uses the same approach, the child will have to buckle down and follow the rules.

On the upside of things, strong-willed children generally become highly motivated, successful adults. They usually have high-self esteem, high energy, and extreme intelligence; they are just lacking the skills to contain their own greatness and let it shine when and where appropriate. Keeping this in mind, try not to brow beat your children into submission. Instead, lovingly show them how to control emotions and how to properly assert themselves.
