![]() Since I started my major in the tea culture of China, I have been deeply impressed by its sophistication and beauty. I would like to share some fascinating aspects of the tea culture of China.
In a country with the history of five thousand years, the Chinese tea drinking habit dated back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907AD). It became a national tradition and led to development of a delicate tea drinking ritual. Over the centuries, poets and artists in China wrote many marvelous masterpieces, in appreciation of tea and Chinese people’s constant love of tea drinking .One of the best-known writers is Lu Yu, who was regarded as the “Tea Sage ” for he composed the first book on tea. In his classic book, he detailed his studies of tea, such as the origin of tea, tea tools, tea picking, tea cooking, tea ceremony and well-known areas where tea was grown. And the valuable knowledge he recorded has laid foundation for modern tea culture development. Based on ways in which tea leaves are processed, there are five distinct types of tea. They are as follow: the green tea, the black tea, the Wulong tea, the compressed tea and the scented tea. Among them, may foreigners are familiar with the green tea. The Longjing tea, of the green type, has a reputation both at home and abroad. And people are engrossed in the fantastic smelling, the delicate tasting, as well as the wonderful shape. When it comes to drinking a cup of tea, we usually invite a few friends, go to a serene place, and drink tea imbibe slowly in small sips. The popularity of tea lies not only in its good taste but also in its benefits to our health .Tea helps our body’ digestion .So, it’s part of lifestyle to drink a cup of tea after the meal. Caffeine is one of the main materials found in tea. Thus, the amazing job of tea is to refresh our mind. Scientific studies show that tea works effectively against cancer. In recent years in China, there has been a growing trend for women to drink tea to lose or control their weight. As the old saying goes, one apple a day keeps the doctor away. With tea, I might as well to add that one cup a day keeps the trouble away.
Many people think that in case of an earthquake, they should "get under" something like a doorway or a desk, in order to avoid being hurt by falling objects. Rescue experts now say this is the wrong thing to do. For example, in the '85 Mexico City earthquake, they found hundreds of children in schools, crushed BY their desks. However, they could've survived by lying in the aisle NEXT to their desks.
So find a nice piece of furniture, a chair, a sofa, and lie down, or curl up next to it. A falling roof may compact the furniture, but will still leave a space for you to survive next to it. This also holds true if you are in a hotel room, especially at night. Get off the bed, and lie down next to it. The people in San Francisco's '89 earthquake, the one where the upper freeway fell on the lower one, the people who died were crushed IN their cars. But they had time to get out and lie down NEXT to their cars. Yes, their cars were crushed, but there was three feet of space from top to bottom next to the vehicles. Plenty of space for people to survive and await a rescue. Doorways and stairways are VERY unsafe. Stay away from those. This is useful information for West Coasters, of course, but also anyone near the middle of the country (Missouri, Tennessee) where the New Madrid fault is. Also NYC is surprisingly earthquake prone. It's rare, but can happen.
Well, doesn't that depend on what's causing you to be unhappy, in the first place? If you've just lost a loved one, no amount of money will make you happy, only time and your own attitude will eventually lessen the pain and hopefully bring some joy back into your life. However, if a stack of unpaid bills is facing you each day, wouldn't enough money to pay them, not make you happy? If you are someone you love, needs expensive medical care and you can't afford it, would money not be the happy answer? So, before we adopt some of these truisms about money, we should see how they apply to the reality of the situation. Money is not a "magic bullet", but then in life, what is? But the effectiveness of money, like most of the things we use and have come to rely on in our world, it is all relative. Being without money doesn't automatically make someone unhappy, but neither does having money guarantee Happiness. Rich people are happy because they don't have to be worried and unhappy about not being able to pay bills, make purchases they want, travel, entertain and so on. But if they became ill and money could not help, they would be just as unhappy and miserable as the poor person who cannot afford the treatment in the first place. Money cannot buy anyone more time, but it can give you more freedom to choose how you use your time. A very happy by-product, choice! "Freedom of choice", if there was ever a magical phrase, that one is it! That is the Happiness that money buys! Lack of money or too little money, limits the choices we can make in and about our lives.

-----a look into rear children’s life
With light above, we can walk steady and brave. With care and love, a kid can develop a happy childhood. But for rear children, their childhood is like walk with little light as their parents have to leave them behind for the city to work. When a normal happy childhood sounds like but a fairy tale for them, can we expect great harmony in our society, our big family and our next generations? As many of you may have seen on CCTV during last spring festival, the story of an emotional journey of a migrant family really touched me to the bottom of my heart. On the stage, a migrant couple were presented to the audience by the famous host-Cui Yongyuan together with the chairwoman of National Women’s Association. The Couple couldn’t have gone back home for the New Year to be with their son because of their duties at a restaurant in Beijing. When the host read an article by their son that he missed his mother dearly, the mother bursted into tears.
As the host finished his reading, the son appeared on the stage dramatically. But more dramatic was what their son said: he understood his parents had to leave him behind for city to give him a better future, however, when he grew up, he would rather stay with his own children in the country side than go to a city to work without his children. These words expose us a common problem of rear children. Acutely these young hearts lack parental tender loving care. Here is the frightening statistics: more than 20million rural children in our countryside are living without their parents by their side. Worse still, these children tend to develop personal disorders, with 3 types commonly seen. First the silent and premature type, shaped by tough experience or hardship from an early age. Second, the dominating and violent type brought up and spoiled by grandparents with little self-discipline. Third, the wild type, neglected with no due care from any relatives. Fortunately our government has taken initiatives to address this problem as so many migrant workers have made such a big sacrifice for our four modernizations. the chairwoman of National Women’s Association remarked: schools have been set up for migrant workers near their community in the city so that children can come to live with their parents in the city. Volunteers have been recruited to help rear children with their daily life and psychological problems. But do you think these simple measures are enough to bring happiness to rural children in a new century and bring harmony to our society? Unfortunately, still only a fraction of the 20 million rear children can enjoy this new found happiness. There is so much to be done for these 20 million rear children. The darkness and loneliness of a journey can be ignored with flowers and songs along the road. So can be our help and support to the walk of a rear child. Let’s join with their parents to create light for their walking, to bring back their innocence and happiness, and to contribute to the harmony of our society, our big family and our next generations.
