For this summer we planned a trip to Darjeeling and Gangtok.  We spend four days in Darjeeling and three days in Gangtok.  After visiting Gangtok we thought we should have planned for more days in Gangtok, such a lovely place compared to Darjeeling. I will give a few points in favour of Gangtok compared to darjeeling-

Gangtok is neat and clean,  the number of tourists is less and hence no crowd,  their staple food is steam boiled hence we can eat local food without any health problems,  the people realise that their economy depends mainly on tourists and hence treat us majestically, hotels and travels are more cooperative,  cab rates are fixed and displayed on the vehicle and the passengers are charged correctly,  the climate is much better,  on a day tour children will love to play in ice.      

Havong so many positive things why Gangtok is not much known and everybody prefer Darjeeling, because Darjeeling is well established from the british period, moreover previously Sikkim was a seperate country, now only they have recognised their tourist potential and have started their ad campaigns,  I suggest that anybody want to visit Gangtok do it early, before it gets crowded like Darjeeling.
