The northeastern edge of the city of Los Angeles is formed by the steep ascent of the San Gabriel Mountains. The closest of these mountains, Mt. Lukens is wholely contained with the LA city limits. It's peak at 5,074' makes it the highest point in Los Angeles, and makes LA the city with the greatest difference in elevation in the country.
