Warsaw Ghetto Uprising - Photo from Jürgen Stroop Report to Heinrich Himmler from May 1943. The original German caption reads: 'Forcibly pulled out of dug-outs'. One of the most famous pictures of World War II. People recognized in the picture:
* Boy in the front was not recognized, some possible identities: Artur Dab Siemiatek, Levi Zelinwarger (next to his mother Chana Zelinwarger) and Tsvi Nussbaum. * Hanka Lamet - small girl on the left * Matylda Lamet Goldfinger - Hanka's mother next to her (second from the left) * Leo KartuziÅ?ski - far back with white bag on his shoulder * Golda Stavarowski - also in the back, first women from the right, with one hand raised * Josef Blösche - SS man with the gun This image is in the public domain because according to the Art.3 of copyright law of March 29, 1926 and Art. 2 of copyright law of July 10, 1952 of the People's Republic of Poland, all photographs by Polish photographers (or published for the first time in Poland or simultaneously in Poland and abroad) published without a clear copyright notice before the law was changed on May 23, 1994 are assumed public domain. This file is in the public domain, because released to the public domain by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
