Friday Night Light is one of those great shows you can catch on TV late at night, and you expect it to be on when nothing else is. It is packed full of humor that almost anyone can relate to, and includes problems that real people can actually understand. Rather than watching some crazy soap opera with twisted story lines, Friday Night Light brings out the humor in everyday live even just by sitting in a coffee shop and chatting with friends.

When I saw the first episode of Friday Night Lights, I did not think I would like it too much. It just seemed too much like your normal teen drama and that just was not my thing. After I kept watching I realized that this show is amazing. The cast just really brings life to the characters. Also the way the show is filmed makes it seem like it is just a series of home movies. The relationships, friendships and just the everyday and mundane things that the characters deal with are completely relatable to real life.

Friday Night Lights television show on NBC. The show is about a high school football team and the challenges that the team and those around them deal with throughout their high school lives. In the small town of Dillion Texas, the only thing that matters is Friday night football games. The players not only have to deal with normal teenage things but also all of the pressure put on them by their small town to win on Friday nights.

When the series started and even as it is now, the show revolves around the Dillion Panthers football team and the fact that it has an affect on the whole town of Dillion, Texas. The star of the show is really the head coach, Eric Taylor played by Kyle Chandler, and his family. His wife, Tami Taylor played by Connie Britton, is a guidance counselor at Dillion High and his daughter, Julie Taylor played by Aimee Teegarden, is a teenage student at Dillion High and then another is added to the family soon after the shows beginning, Gracie Taylor.

Although the Taylor family is the main focus of the show, there are many other staring roles. The show seems to focus on the lives of the football team. In the first episode of the series star quarterback Jason Street, played by Scott Porter, suffers an bad injury which ends his football career and puts him in a wheelchair for life. Jason’s girlfriend Lyla, played by Minka Kelly, is a cheerleader and later in the series she becomes a youth minister, After Jason is out of the picture Matt Saracen, played by Zach Gilford, is pushed into the spot light as now star quarterback.

Matt is an only child, his father is in Iraq and his mother is God knows where, so he is left alone to care for his grandmother with the help of his friend Landry Clarke, played by Jesse Plemons. Matt eventually begins dating the coach’s daughter, Julie. After Julie and Matt call it quits, he begins to fall for his grandmother’s new nurse, Carlotta Alonso, played by Daniella Alonso. Then there is the really irritating and self absorbed running-back Brian “Smash” Williams, played by Gaius Charles. He is on a quest for a scholarship. At last, there is Tim Riggins, played by Taylor Kitsch, who is an on again, off again alcoholic and Tyra Collette, played by Adrianne Palicki, is the town vixen.
