Honda 700XX is the manufacturer’s first offering in the open-class sport model segment. Along with the all-new quad, Honda also announced a redesigned and plusher 400EX. One area Honda had yet to explore was the highly popular side-by-side market. However, with the early release 2009 Big Red, Honda will finally have a UTV of its own.

As far as the open-class sport segment, Honda loyalists have been begging for a machine for the last decade. Some even went so far as to build their own open-class Honda by custom-fitting a XR650 engine in a quad chassis. Honda took an all-new route in designing its TRX700XX, which was built in its Timmonsville, S.C., plant.

Designed to compete with both the Raptor 700R and Outlaw 525 IRS, the 700XX could be described as a unique offering that has characteristics of both of its competitors. It is powered by a purpose-built 686cc liquid-cooled four-stroke, as is the Raptor. It also features a independent rear suspension, much like the Outlaw.
