Negative Technology
Oh, the iPhone. It's taken the world by storm, and it seems to have taken the place of its user's mind! At first the commercial explains that there's an app (i.e. application) to check the weather should you need to know the weather conditions. That is amazing in case you should need to know the weather of your destination and need to know the weather ASAP.
Then the commercial explains that there's an app for counting calories. Maybe it's just me, but I'm pretty sure I can pick a healthy meal on my own. I have this thing called a brain, and another thing I like to call self control. French fries = fatty. Do you really need an app to tell you that?
And for the commercial's grand finale, it explains that just incase you can't remember where you parked your car, there's an app for that. It's at this point that I have to stop and think for a second, a very long second. Has society become so dependant on technology that it's not even necessary to remember where the car is parked? Pen and paper people, write it down!
Need to know how much of a helpless baby you are? Yeah, there's an app for that. Need a swift kick in the face? You got it, there's an app for that.
Below is a commercial spoof on technology and where technology is headed. Facebook is already a stalker's best friend, so why not make it a tad bit easier by adding the istalk app.
Positive Technology
The commercial with Kylie is a wonderful example of the great things technology offers its users. Kylie is merely 4 years old, yet she's already able to use a computer, upload her pictures and send the pictures to her family. Knowledge of technology at a young age is crucial in today's society because today's society depends on technology to function properly. Kylie is ahead of the game by learning the ins and outs of technology at a young age. She will grow with the changing technology rather than be slammed with learning about technology when she is a bit older.
The video youtube to the right features 8 year old Adam. Adam is using technology to make a slideshow with his pictures. He adds music and transitions between photographs. I see a future film maker in Adam. It's a good thing he's got technology to give him an early start!
