Fidel Castro resigns as president and commander in chief of Cuba

After almost 50 years of being the president and commander in chief of Cuba Fidel Castor, 81 years old, has resigned.

Fidel Castro announced his resignation by publishing a letter in the newspaper Granma.

Raul Castro, Fidel's brother, is the candidate to replace him.
