Our New Orleans Photo Album
We went to New Orleans March 17,2005. We celebrated our anniversary there. I had always wanted to see this place and Chris arranged a surprise getaway for us. We flew into Biloxi and stayed at Magnolia Plantations in Gulfport Mississippi. We drove into New Orleans from there. It is about a 45 minute drive. We had a very nice time and I am thankful we got to see the city before Katrina took hold. It was a very busy city with plenty to do. Lots and lots of bars. It is not a place I would want to go on a family vacation but for the two of us it was a nice getaway. This was the first getaway we ever went on without the kids. Here are some pictures of the wonderful sites we enjoyed while we were there. I hope you enjoy them as well. Where we stayed: Magnolia Plantation in Gulfport Mississippi ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The grounds The Peacocks were everywhere they were gorgeous! ![]() ![]() We went on a Voodoo tour and into a Voodoo temple. We experienced Priestess Miriam is who a well known Voodoo Priestess. It was quite a culture shock but I am glad we experienced it. ![]() ![]() The offerings New Orleans is steeped in history and tradition. There is a lot of different things to see. When we went on the Voodoo tour we went to Saint Louis Cemetery #1 in New Orleans that is where Marie Laveau is buried she was known as the Voodoo Queen. ![]() ![]() There is a lot of graphiti on Maries grave because people think if they mark it with xxx and make a wish and offer her something she will make their wish come true. See the offerings hanging on her grave. And all the graphiti. ![]() Other graves are even worse off.... On our walk back we enjoyed the neighborhood.... ![]() ![]() ![]() We decided to go on a Riverboat Jazz and Dinner Cruise that evening...on our way there we noticed this neat statue and I had to have a shot. ![]() ![]() This was across from where you get on the boat. This is Jackson Brewery. ![]() The Natchez ![]() Watching the Jazz band On our way to the airport we had a few hours to spare we decided to try our luck at gambling. We played blackjack and this is by far the friendliest and best place I have ever played. I ended up winning all of the money I spent while visiting New Orleans. ( not enough to pay for flight and hotel but for my spending money) We had a great time and I am so glad we got to have this experience.
