Save Gas, Use Water to Run Your Car

What if you could use your garden hose to fuel your car? Once upon a time, people used water, heated by wood or coal, to run the engines for pumps, trains and boats. With the discovering of petroleum as a fuel source, this steam heat was pushed aside. Gasoline was cheap, easily transportable, and abundant. There was no concern about carbon emission, or the environment. But today, with gas prices rising and global warming, the focus is on alternative fuel cars, saving petrol, and increasing gas mileage.

This may seem like a daunting task, but the major Automobile companies are pursuing these goals. They have developed Hybrid cars, running on both gasoline and electricity, which increases gas mileage. They have developed a hydrogen fuel cell, which works with ethanol and on hydrogen alone, and will be an engine powered with water.

Ethanol is a renewable fuel. But when used by internal combustion engines, its efficiency is drastically reduced. To mix ethanol with gasoline requires that all the water from the ethanol be removed. This is a time-consuming, difficult process. A Hydrogen ethanol fuel cell is being developed to improve ethanol efficiency By converting the water contained in ethanol into hydrogen, its effectiveness is raised multiple times. Hydrogen is an element that is comes from splitting water molecules. In this combination of hydrogen and ethanol, there is no need to remove water from ethanol. Hydrogen comes from both the ethanol and the water already contained in the ethanol. Therefore, hydrogen ethanol fuel cells triple the competency level of ethanol as a fuel.

Hydrogen only fuel cells are also being developed. The hydrogen fuel cell uses water as fuel, separating the hydrogen from the water. Hydrogen is the most abundant element on earth, and is found in water. Conventional gasoline engines rely on internal combustion and a battery to create the power, using gasoline as the catalyst. The hydrogen fuel cell combines the negative and positive theory of the battery, and uses hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen is pumped into the fuel cell, the oxygen is taken in from the atmosphere, the negative charge splits the hydrogen cells, separating the electrons. The electrons pass into an external circuit, forming an electric current which propels the car forwards, The hydrogen cells, devoid of electrons, as well as the electrons used in the external circuit return to combine with the oxygen and form water.
