Naturopathic medicine is a holistic approach mixing modern scientific knowledge with natural and traditional medicine. Naturopathy attributes great importance to the relation between mind and body, and their mutual impact, and encourages the patients to be active participants in the healing process.

The meaning of the word naturopathy is creating the right conditions which allow the body to cure itself.

Naturopathy wishes to stimulate the body's own natural respond and treat the cause of the problem.

* Treat the whole - a holistic human attitude, naturopathy perceive the human as a whole holistic unit and considers importance to the physiological, psychological, hereditary, environmental, social, mental and way of life, which all affect the human health. There is an interaction between the emotional -mental system and the physiological somatic system.

* Identification and consideration of the causes - naturopathy sees in the disease symptoms a warning sign that something internal is out of balance and directs the treatment towards the real cause of the disease and not only for its symptoms.

* The physician as a teacher and an educator - Naturopathy understands and acknowledges the importance of the relation between the therapist and the patient, and how much this relation influences the trust given by the patient. Naturopathy emphasizes the importance of changes in thinking and emotions patterns and encourages the person to take a full responsibility of his life and health, and to be an active participant in the process collaborating with nature and with healing powers.

* Preventative medicine - prevention of diseases is always better than treating them, always easier and safer. It is very important and must be taught. The naturopathic approach is mainly a preventive manner relating to educating a healthy life style.

Naturopathic treatment methods

* Nutrition - nutrition is one of the fundamental and important tools of the naturopath who is skilled in the understanding of the nutrition influence on human health.
Naturopathy perceives nutrition as a first priority treatment tool, not only to avoid diseases, to lose weight, or maintain health and vitality, but to cure existent diseases.

* Movement - attributes an enormous importance to physical activity and movements. These contribute to our health by many ways. Physical exercise serves a huge treatment instrument for preventing diseases, rehabilitation and strengthening the body, improvement of the heart-lung endurance, improvement of the blood circulation and heart output, freshness feeling, mood improvement, and more. The naturopath will examine the types of activity of the patient and will guide him the right activity suited for him.

* Additive food - vitamins and minerals participate in many important processes in the body. Creating energy from food, assistance to the digestion process, growth and development, metabolism, nervous system function, the hormonal system, blood system. The body cannot produce vitamins and that is why it must receive those supplements from nutrition, lack in those supplements can harm and disrupt certain processes.
