Building Trust in human relationships
Trust is the most sacred variable in many human relationships, and this also often includes very many formal relationships in the office. What is meant by trust, in the most simplest of words? Trust is the most extreme of valu-based relationships. When a person trusts another, it means that the latter keeps every bit of information, that is shared by the former, totally confidential. It also means that the latter is always available -- at any time of the day or night -- for any help, be this help psychological, or financial or whatever. It also means that since everything is so confidential, there will be no breach of the confidence that one has on another. When there is even the most minor breach, there will be major problem, and the trust that hitherto existed, will come to naught. More often than not, such people do not also talk to each other after such a breach. Trust is a very difficult thing indeed, to develop. Only friends or relatives who know each other for a very long time, can afford to develop such relationships. Very very rarely, do we find such people from among our colleagues in offices or in other places like social clubs and so on. Do develop trust, the other person should have total confidence in you, and you should always be seen as a very dependable, sincere, honest, dedicated and extremely above board in all dealings, by the other person. Relationships based on trust are most enjoyable, are most productive, and are most often, highly emotional. There is a word of caution here. Since the whole world is now turning commercial, and everything is based on money or social status, most human beings do not want to enter into relationships based on trust. Take it or leave it is the most common form of relationships. In other words, what is the boundary of most human relationships is well defined not by us --even though we may have the best of intentions -- but the other person at the other end. Unless he or she is by nature seen to be or actally is, a person genuinely interested in a relationship based on trust. Lack of time is one of the biggest problems in any relationship. It is also a fact of life, that our lives are becoming so mechanical, so meaningless, and full of tension or hypertension. In such a situtation, it is but natural that we often seek a reltionship based on trust, not only within the family, but even outside. However, be careful to find out if the other person is really interested at all. It is only here that we often fail to understand our position. If we try something and find that the response is just not there, we will often feel miserable, and then repent. Hence, the best thing is to just keep quiet. On the other hand, I have seen several people who seek solace in religion. They become very religious, have a very balanced view of life, and develop a great deal of concentration in whatever they do. They are very successful in finding someone who does something similar, and relationships develop. Though these relationships are not truly trustful relationships, if the persons concerned are honest, there is much more than just formal relationships, and a great deal of happiness is seen all around when familes visit each other, they help each other, and stand by whenever someone is in trouble -- financial or otherwise. However, whatever happens to you, please do remember to understand when you want relationships based on trust, and why you want them. No relationship should never ever be forced on anyone, more so, on someone who is neither interested nor prepared for such relationships. Trust never happens in a day. It happens over a very long period of time. So, if you want to develop a relationship based on trust, try it but be very careful at every stage. It is worthwhile to remember that such a relationship takes years to build and is never ever easy. However, like minded individuals do exist in this world, and is quite possible that such a relationship can be built, particularly if you and the other person share similar likes and dislikes.
