Malaga Car Hire on a Budget

Are you planning a trip to Malaga? You don't have to rely on taxis and public transportation to get around town and out of the city to explore the Costa del Sol. Renting a car will give you the freedom to come and go as you please and see parts of the city and country that can't be reached by bus or train. There will be no timetable to work around and no need to stand in line for tickets.

Most large Malaga car hire companies have offices and lots at the Malaga airport which is located about six kilometers from the city. Some also have offices in the city which can be more convenient if you're not planning on hiring a car right when you arrive. If the car hire agency only has offices in town then you can usually arrange for drop off and pick up at the airport (or in the city).

On a Budget?

Are you thinking that renting a car in Malaga is to expensive? If you're traveling alone and you'll be staying in the city then it may not be worth a car rental but usually this isn't the case. Most tourists want to have the freedom to get out of town and visit the Costa del Sol or other parts of Spain. If you're traveling with others then renting a car will at least be the same if not less than taking other forms of transportation.

There are some ways to save money on your Malaga car hire. Try to book your car rental at least three months in advance especially in peak season. Not only will you get the best rate but there will also be more availability. Also think about the amenities that you can do without. For example, air conditioning is only necessary in the summer months so there's no need to get it in the cooler months. Automatic transmission is sometimes an option in European rentals. If you don't know how to drive a manual transmission then pay the extra for the automatic since learning on vacation is not a good idea.

Consider Comfort

Rental cars in Europe tend to be smaller than the same category of rental in North America. For example, a compact car will be very compact and may be uncomfortable for more than two adults. If you can handle having a small car then it will save you gas which can be significant since the price of gas is much higher than in the U.S. Also keep in mind the amount of luggage you need to transport. If you have several bags or large bags such as golf clubs, then you may need to rent a larger vehicle.

To find the best deal for when you want to visit Malaga, use the internet. If you haven't booked your trip yet then look into getting a package that includes a car rental; it will usually save you money.
