What is a Blog ? The first weblogs appeared mid-1990s. They were online diaries and were websites on which Internet users periodically made entries about their own lives.
From 1996 there were services such as Xanga, which allowed Internet users in a simple way to create their own Weblogs. After a slow start such pages had a rapid growth from the end of the 1990s. So Xanga grew from 100 blogs in the year 1997 to 20 million in 2005.
For 2004, the "Blogging" became more business-like. Many online media operate their own blogs to their readership to expand. The American dictionary publisher chose the short form of "blog" even to the word of the year 2004.
The term Weblog dived 1997 first at the website of Jorn Barger, the abbreviation "blog" in the year 1999, the year in which the general boom of this kind of Web sites began. By 2001 also the traditional media took a look at the new display form carefully. Initial research from the journalism on the phenomenon appeared, and more and more private users began to expand its own Weblog. At the same time, some blogs were established as a respected media, for example, in the United States the blog by Andrew Sullivan.
