Selecting a Safe Water Bottle

By Mitch Martin

Many people do not realize that the water bottles they are using are slowly poisoning them. It is kind of ironic that by trying to be healthier by drinking more water, we can actually be harming ourselves by not using the right container.

The worst possible bottle for you is the all to common disposable plastic water bottle. This is the type of bottle you will find store bought bottled water in. The danger with these bottles comes from repeated use of them. There are chemicals that can leak into the very water you are drinking. And the longer they are in use, the more chance there is for common bacteria to grow in the cracks in the bottle.

On top of this, these bottles are absolutely terrible for our environment. We are filling our landfills with these bottles and they are going not doing us any favors. Unhealthy and unsafe, we should all make a concerted effort to move away from the common disposable plastic bottle.

Fortunately for us, there is an ever growing number of choices in the world of portable water storage. Non-disposable plastic water bottles are a choice that you have probably seen popping up at grocery stores and sporting goods stores. These are made from a much tougher and durable plastic than disposable bottles.

While these bottles are better for the environment, there is still question on their effects on our health. These bottles do have the possibility of leaking the chemical BPA. While not conclusive, there are studies that indicate the chemical can be a contributing factor to prostate cancer. For this reason, you should consider whether or not this option is viable for you.

So what other choices do you have? Well there are bottles that are made from aluminum and from stainless steel. These are definitely becoming a popular option and it is not difficult to find them anymore. They don't leak any harmful chemicals and are safe for the environment. Stainless steel water bottles are the best choice of all. They are tougher, more durable, don't leak any chemicals, and do not interfere with the taste of the beverage they are holding. Aluminum is a great choice, but nothing beats a stainless steel water bottle.

Giving up your bottled water addiction? Time for an in house water filter. Check out the [http://www.puresource2waterfilter.com/]Frigidaire PureSource2 water filter.
