STORY LINE
When a pro surfer whom Don knew as a kid is killed in a supposed surfing accident, the surfer’s father asks Alan and the Numbers team to launch an investigation…
[KEITH WATTS]
In his mid 60s to mid 70s, sad, with some mileage on his face, he is the father of Mason, who appears to have died in a surfing accident. Keith and Alan go way back, and are able to confide in one another about their complex feelings regarding their sons. Keith insists that Mason wasn’t a daredevil with a death wish, and asks Don to look into foul play as a possibility. Keith fears that his divorce or his other supposed failings as a father may have somehow contributed to Mason’s death…GUEST STAR (3)

In his early to late 30s, he is a Park Service Ranger and surfer who knew Mason, the murder victim, fairly well. Wilson tells David that Mason was an extremely serious ranger known for his strict adherence to the rules, and that he busted people who perhaps shouldn’t have been busted. In his early 30s to mid 40s, he is the murder victim, seen mostly on an FBI screen during a film interview. Mason is a handsome, ruggedly athletic, at times morally superior, purist surfer and Park Ranger who knew Don when they were kids. A famous surfer who was once afraid of the water, he caused a stir in the surfing world when he cast off his sponsors and went into seclusion. He believes surfing is a spiritual endeavor, and he won’t abide rule-breakers on his turf. His penchant for arresting people as a Park Ranger earned him more than a few enemies…GUEST STAR (2)
[MELISSA CONROY]
Mason’s slightly rude and dismissive ex-girlfriend, in her mid 20s to early 30s, she’s a strikingly attractive surfing instructor and part-time bikini model. She is questioned by Don and tells him that she and Mason dated for a few years but broke up recently when it became clear that Mason’s interest in surfing would never lead to a comfortable lifestyle. As the investigation continues, Melissa’s bitterness toward Mason and his inflexibility is revealed…GUEST STAR (12)
