T-shirts (or tees as they are popularly known) have evolved from being an undergarment to a fashion statement. Earlier cotton or polyester Tees where considered to be a casual in house wear. However with the advent of more and more stable dying methods and with an almost limitless supply of prints and dies, T-shirts have now become a fashionable piece of clothing.

Tees are now available in so many designs, colours and patterns, that they have become a medium of self expression. From funny t-shirts that depict cartoons or quips, to t-shirt designs that bear more meaningful banners or logos like 'Save the earth' or even the increasingly popular 'support our troops' t-shirts, a t-shirt is no longer just a piece of clothing it has come to reflect an individual's likes and dislikes. His opinions and his lighter or naughtier side. No longer are t-shirts available in boring white colour or simple design. The quality of the materials used and the different designs like tank tops, mid riff T-shirts have made them fashionable and adored by people of all ages and sexes.

The earliest image of t-shirts as an icon was probably the popular tie and die, hippie t-shirts. The tie and die t-shirts have become the symbol of everything retro or 60's. As time has evolved t-shirts now come in all flavours, religious t-shirts, outdoor t-shirts, funny t-shirts, novelty t-shirts to name a few. The acceptance of t-shits as a an advertisement medium has meant that tees now boast of numerous brand logos and such tees are often freely distributed by sponsors as a means of spreading greater awareness of products.

Another reason for the amazing popularity of t-shirts is that they are made and designed for people of all ages, children's t-shirts usually boast of popular cartoon characters, where as teenage t-shirts are usually 'funny' or 'rebellious'. No matter what the age of the person, there is always a t-shirt that he/she can buy to suit his mood and taste.

Online t-shirt sales have made it simpler for people to buy t-shirts of there choice online, since t-shirt sizes the world over are standardized. This allows people to buy them just as they would off the rack without trying them on. With the advent of online t-shirt sales, comes the capability of having custom designed tees, one can get a favourite photo or quote printed on a t-shirt, or better still create commemorative t-shirts for events and meetings.
