So you have heard about the new Borat movie, but you aren’t sure what it is about or if it is really even worth seeing. When the movie previewed at the Toronto Film Festival it received rave reviews and viewers said they couldn’t stop laughing. In fact, many people laughed at the jokes in spite of themselves, sometimes feeling embarrassed to be laughing at certain things. But, this is what the movie is all about. It criticizes everyone and everything, especially Jews, and is so politically incorrect that it is indeed funny. A self conscious funny many times, but nevertheless hysterical.

The movie is based on Borat, a native of Kazakhstan which is portrayed as a completely backwards country, leaving for a news assignment in the United States. As he arrives in America the funny situations just begin to unfold. One is where he sees Baywatch and decides he is in love with Pamela Anderson and must find her and make her his wife. As he is traveling from New York to Los Angeles he encounters many different scenarios that result in comedy for the moviegoers. But, keep in mind, most of the content is offensive to at least one group of individuals if not several.

In specific, Jews, homosexuals, women, and black individuals really take a beating. Borat is supposedly completely stupid, an idiot, who just doesn’t know anything. So, his reactions and opinions too many of the scenes are offensive but in the light of the movie they are funny. There are so may politically incorrect scenes that will make you laugh and feel guilty at the same time that you might not know what to do.

Many moviegoers can simply laugh off the juvenile comedy and the offensive content and chalk it up to a funny movie that while in bad taste is hysterical.
