Nintendo Hunting R4 Vendors, Invites Everyone to Join in the Fun

Last year, Nintendo and 54 other publishers brought forth a lawsuit against the makers of Majicon R4 devices. However, despite winning the case in February, that didn't seem to stop a lot of Japanese vendors from continuing to sell the newly-illegal devices.

If that didn't get their attention, then perhaps this will: Nintendo of Japan has issued a statement which says that they and 54 other companies (which one would presume are the same 54 from the initial case) have once more filed with the Tokyo District Court to not only halt the import and sales of the devices, but to also seek damages against those who have resold the device.

Nintendo asserts that following the February decision, it sent notices in April (one of which can be seen here) to the retailers who did not cease selling the devices ordering them to stop and pay damages. The vendors flipped Nintendo and co. the proverbial bird and went on about their business as usual. Now, those birds are about to sing a different tune, as Nintendo+54 is ready to turn their legal eagles on them.

Nintendo did not reveal the names of any specific resellers (likely to prevent consumers from seeking them out), but have opened a special website which lets users get their ninja on and start taking out some pirates by reporting them. The page contains a secure form through which users can report specific dates of violation and a homepage/URL for the offender vendors.

Nintendo did reveal some of their allies in the fight against piracy in the statement, which include such noteworthy publishers as Capcom, SEGA, Square Enix, and Namco Bandai. Not exactly a group one would want to incur the legal wrath of, that's for sure.
