Ideas for Distributing Promotional Pens

Promotional items are only as good as your method of distribution—it’s important to get your promotional message out to the public in a way that will make your company memorable. Promotional pens can be used in a wide variety of situations, from conferences and trade shows to retail stores, online stores, and as casual gifts for clients, customers and employees. Here are a few ideas for distributing promotional pens.
• One of the simplest methods of distribution is simply to give a pen to clients or customers on any occasion where they need a pen, for example to sign a contract or receipt, take notes, or write down contact information.
• Hand out a promotional pen to everyone who visits your trade show booth.
• Tuck a promotional pen inside each conference folder or bag at a conference.
• Give a supply of promotional pens to your salespeople and ask them to hand out pens to their clients.
• Use promotional pens as a purchase incentive for an online store. Simply offer a printed pen free with every purchase. Pens are a great choice for online promotions because they’re small and light—they won’t add much to your shipping costs, and they’re small enough to tuck inside almost any package, no matter how small.
• Choose a few expensive metal pens or pen sets and keep these for occasional use for special occasions. Give a pen or pen set on occasions such as the promotion of a valued employee, or for client gifts on special occasions.
• Give away promotional pens as purchase incentives in a retail store. Offer them free with every purchase, or use more expensive pens as part of a long term purchase incentive plan to get more people shopping in your store.
• Give boxes of pens to suitable companies and businesses to use or distribute as they see fit.
• Leave promotional pens in your reception area for clients to pick up and use. Leave a small box or pen pot with a sign telling people that the pens are free for their use. Be sure to keep the box full at all times.
• Leave your own promotional pens in unexpected places. Don’t miss out on any opportunity—for example, leave a pen or two on the table at the café where you eat at lunch, or drop a few off at the library.
• Add a promotional pen to your mail-out advertising material. If you send out company calendars to your mailing list every year, add a promotional pen to the package as an extra bonus for your customers
