How to become a licensed plumber
  1. Apply to a tech school, and contact a local plumbing company to see if they have openings for an apprentice plumber. The advantages to tech schools are they can decrease the time of studies and you get to learn hands on and practical work at the same time. You will have a better chance of working for a larger company if they see a tech school on your resume
  2. Step 2

Start working towards your journeyman lic. You are allowed to work under a journeyman until you receive your lic. Be patient sometimes it is difficult to work with someone who knows the trade but doesn't know how to teach people, Try to watch everything and not ask too many questions while the journeyman is working, It is a good idea to keep questions in your head or write them down and ask later.

  3. Step 3

Keep track of your hours and time most states in the northeast require 580 hours of school and 5 years of on the job training.

  4. Step 4

study and pass all the required tests. Once you pass the final exam you can take the journeymans test. The test requires a fee and can be taken once every six months. If you dont pass try again.

  5. Step 5

strive to be the best, The opportunities are endless in the field of plumbing. You could even become a town inspector or even a state investigator.
