Many of you must be knowing that every mobile will have a unique number to identify it. This unique number is called International Mobile Equipment Identity or IMEI. IMEI is a number unique which is given to every GSM, WCDMA, iDEN mobile phone and some other satellite phones. You can usually find it by typing *#06# on your handset.

If you are interested to know more about your mobile or check if the IMEI is valid then you can try it at International Numbering Plans. International Numbering Plans provides information about worldwide number range assignments for phone numbers, mobile networks, mobile phones and international networks. You can find information regarding manufacturer, model type, and country of approval of a handset by providing the IMEI number of the handset.

I have seen many cases where people are buying mobiles with invalid IMEI numbers. Moreover Govt is planning not to allow mobiles with invalid or no IMEI number. So it would be a good idea to check if your IMEI really valid.
