The word "autism" as a diagnosis is one that strikes fear in the heart of parents.  There are levels of autism. Autism is a mental disorder that relates to the development process of the brain.

Even though many individuals have the idea that autistic children desire to be left alone, that is not always the case. Although they like being around other people, autistic children have difficulty interacting and communicating.

The autistic often repeat some sort of behavior.  These children will walk about with no objective or goal and be actively moving some parts of their bodies such as the waving of hands or rolling their heads. They often show compulsive behavior like making sure that objects are in the exact same place or the exact same order.

People with autism strongly resist change of any type. They will need to know that certain events will take place at a certain time and on a certain day as they get older. Any changes in menus are abhorred. Autistic individuals are very sensitive about their environment, such as dislike for any changes in layout or furniture.
