Buddhism

A stark contrast to the previous evening, I spent my second day visiting all of the Buddhist temples in Bangkok. I wrote the VO for this clip during a time I was arguing with a Buddhist friend of mine, so it may seem overbearing. On the bright side, there is footage of a Buddhist monk picking his nose. The video was shot in the Buddhist temples throughout Bangkok.

Using the Bangkok BTS (Sky Train)

The BTS (Sky Train) in Bangkok is excellent for getting above the traffic and reaching your destination in comfort -- irrespective of the traffic jams below. I hope this will help those going to Bangkok for the first time to feel more comfortable about using the BTS -- it really is very user friendly. There are route maps inside each carriage and an electronic voice announces the next station shortly after leaving the last station and again before arriving at the next. For 2 people a taxi can still be cheaper -- depending on traffic conditions, time of the day etc. The BTS is clean safe, reliable and has great air conditioning.

Thailand temples - Ayuthaya

Ayuthaya is the previous capitol of Thailand, located just North of Bangkok. It is pretty easy to make a day trip there by bus or train, and so it is frequently visited by tourists. There are many temples to see, although they aren't quite as old as the ones at Sukhothai. The video is about 3 minutes long, and shows most of the commonly visited temples on site.

Global Treasures AYUTTHAYA Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthay

GTR-DVD-1205 - Eighty kilometres north of Bangkok is Thailand's former capital city of Ayutthaya, a famous historical site that is both exotic and atmospheric. For more than four hundred years Ayutthaya, Siam's former glorious capital city, was the residence of no less than thirty three kings and five dynasties. The royal temple of Wat Phra Sri Samphet that is dominated by three Chedis is one of the most famous ruins in Ayutthaya. Within the Chedis, that are of typical Ceylonese bell-shaped design, are the ashes of three prominent Thai kings. The ruins of Ayutthaya still provide an insight into its original size and ancient splendour. Indeed, it is an historic metropolis whose dimensions once even surpassed today's modern cities of both Paris and London. Global Treasures - History's Most Protected Monuments - Heritage is our legacy from the past, what we live today, and what we pass on to future generations. our cultural and natural heritage are both irreplaceable sources of life and inspiration. Places as unique and diverse as the wilds of East Africa's Serengeti, the Pyramids of Egypt, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the Baroque cathedrals of Latin America make up our world's heritage. Join us as we explore one of these protected monuments.

chiang mai

Chiang Mai is a great location, a relaxed environment, low prices on almost everything, a temple or pagoda every 100 m - in the old town, within the moat and the partly still existing city wall - . A vibrant nightlife on certain parts of the city, great restaurants, great shopping, a free Thai classic dance show at the night bazaar, adventure and action in the north of the city and so on, read on and enjoy the great pictures.
