Kirpal Gordon's freelance

entrepreneurs. A national
award-winning poet, journalist
and editor, he's also a highly
praised spoken word artist.
Most recently in New York
City, he opened the Howl
Festival with a Kerouac
tribute and 'Searching for Big
Daddy Midnight,' a Duke
Ellington suite with Frank
Perowski's Big Band. He played
with Claire Daly's Rah-Rah
Band, a Rahsaan Roland
Kirk-inspired project, at the
first Jazz Improv Live
Convention; he sat in with Art
Baron's Quartet at The Stone;
he and his Speak-Spake-Spoke
band celebrated their CD
release party at Sweet Rhythm.
During that time, Telling
Stories, Writing Songs, a book
on Texas music he edited and
pitched to University of Texas
Press, entered its second
edition. His latest
consultancy, on how dental
teams can raise their
patients' implant dentistry
IQ, is now enjoying widespread
attention in that industry.
His latest editing project is
on helping students choose
careers more wisely.
Born and raised in New York
City, he graduated magna cum
laude with a B.A. in Religious
Studies and Philosophy from
Fordham University at Lincoln
Center, thanks to a Regents
scholarship. He studied
creative writing with Norman
Dubie at Arizona State
University, Allen Ginsberg and
Robert Duncan at Naropa
Institute and took his M.F.A.
degree at the University of
Arizona, thanks to the
mentorship of Richard Shelton.

He has traveled widely and
lived in the mid-Hudson
Valley, Texas Hill Country,
southern Mexico, the Florida
Keys, Arizona's Valley of the
Sun and New Orleans. In
between writing projects he
enjoys building meditation
