red-skinned devil fighting for
the good guys debuted with
35-point-nine million dollars.
The opening of 'Hellboy II' -
directed by Guillermo del Toro
- is more than double that of
the original film. Universal
decided to do a sequel after
the first 'Hellboy' really
caught fire on DVD.'Hellboy'
pushed 'Hancock' to second
place. The Will Smith
superhero tale took in another
33-million. That raises its
domestic total to 165 million
dollars.Opening third is
'Journey to the Center of the
Earth,' starring Brendan
Fraser. The film is a modern
twist on the Jules Verne
classic about a trip to the
planet's core - shot in
digital 3-D. It took in
20-point-6-million dollars.The
animated 'Wall-E' continued to
clean up at number 4. The
sci-fi story of a lonely robot
earned another 18-and-a-half
million dollars.And 'Wanted,'
the assassination thriller
starring Angelina Jolie, James
McAvoy and Morgan Freeman -
rounds out the top five,
pulling in an additional
11-point six million dollars.
