This video is not meant as an
attack on Jordin or American
Idol. It is merely meant to
illustrate that American
Idol--which is supposedly a
show in which contestants are
rated on their LIVE
performances--doesn't use LIVE
footage in the recaps.

Our problem lies in the fact
that, as has been correctly
pointed out, the footage used
in the recaps was shot at an
earlier rehearsal, and was not
live.

What's wrong with that?
Imagine this scenario: You are
a contestant on Idol. You and
your opponent both deliver
good dress rehearsal
performances. But under the
pressure of the live audience
and live TV, something
happens. You nail your live
performance, totally knock it
out of the park. But your
opponent makes some serious
mistakes in their live
performance, really flubs it.
But because the DRESS
REHEARSAL performances are
used in the recaps, the 30
million TV viewers don't see
the stark differences in your
LIVE performances because they
are shown the dress rehearsal
clips, right before the voting
begins. Is that fair?

So the point is simply this:
1. This video proves that
rehearsal clips are used in
the recaps.
2. For a show that purports
present the real contestants
and performances and allow the
public to select the winner
based on those performances,
it is disingenuous and
potentially unfair to show
clips that are NOT from the
live performance in the recaps
just before viewers are
allowed to vote. (less)
