solar portico at Cal State
University at Dominguez Hills,

Dominguez. These panels, you
might notice, are flat, not
angled at all. This is fine,
for appearance, but would be
much more productive if angled
for maximum kWh or maximum
peak (dollar per kWh). It uses
a Satcon 550 kW Canadian
inverter, with an output of
more than 400 kW ('AC' or
'actual'). This is much more
efficient than the other three
public-entity systems,
probably because it was
designed (and is owned) by
SCE. Caltrans notoriously
splurges our money on waste,
so their system is a guffaw,
while the inefficient,
wasteful Convention Center
might be a loud, rude laugh.
We've heard the equivocation
at the DWP about when 'solar
noon' is, skirting the issue
that DWP has not defined the
peak period, because their
'Cost of Generation' studies
are skewed toward generation
by out of state coal fired
power plants.
