'teach the Viets a lesson'

The highlands of North Vietnam
was captured, but at a very
high cost in casualties to the
Chinese. They then withdrew
after having made their
point.
But it was the Chinese who
learnt a lesson in that they
had to modernise their army.

like Vietnamese as both came
from the Yueh tribes. For 1000
years, Vietnam was a Chinese
province till about 938AD when
she broke away from the
Chinese empire.
