representative at the
Eurovision Song Contest 2008
through a national selection
organized by CyBC. Composers
were allowed to submit their
songs until 15 November
2007.[1] Following the
deadline, a professional
seven-member jury selected 10
songs to compete in the
national final on 12 January
2008.[2] The winner of the
selection was decided through
a mixture of a jury (40%) and
a televote (60%). The jury
consisted of those who
selected the 10 competing
songs with the addition of two
guest jurors. [3]The National
Final took place on Janurary
12, 2008, and for the first
time was streamed through
ESCTV on www.Eurovision.tv as
well as CYBC.com.cy. The show
started at 8:15 PM CET, and
lasted approximately 2 hours.
The host of the show was
Andreas Ektora, while Evridiki
along with Dimitris Korgialas
were special guests singing
new songs.At Eurovision,
Cyprus will take part in one
of two semifinals on 20 May
2008 or 22 May 2008. It has
been announced that the
Cypriot entry will not have
the regular European
promotional tour as in
